Not sure if I'm doing the right thing by posting into this old thread (and the scale section didn't exist then, so please move it to there Mods if you want).

I've been meaning to build an interior for my Purbeck Fox ever since I had it and have finally got round to it.
It doesn't bear comparison to some of the amazing interiors I've seen but I wanted to do it all myself and not spend a fortune.

I made the seats by laminating 3 layers of glass around a tin of paint and then cutting them to shape and making a frame with ply.  Here they are after I've painted them with "stone effect" paint (like the real Foxes have).

The front and rear instrument binnacles I made by carving lumps of foam to (about!) the right shape and then glassing them.  I drew the panels themselves by scaling photographs and doing a CAD drawing.  Luckily my local school has a laser cutter that I can use so they were cut from perspex direct from the CAD drawing.  The instrument jewels are thinner so that they give a 3D effect.  The instruments themselves are just prints from photographs stuck to the back of the lenses.  Unfortunately I couldn't find any really high quality ones (without paying!) so they are a little blury.

Here's a picture of the front binnacle and seat in situ:-

And one of the rear:-

Both together:-

And finally with the (cheap!) pilot seated and ready to fly!

I enjoyed doing it in the end and it cost almost nothing except for the pilot and whilst it's not super accurate it only took me a week and looks better (I think) than having no interior at all.

Regards

Simon

Thank you very much!

The pilot is from AH Designs in Wales http://www.thepilotpeople.co.uk/ They are OK but you have to wait about 3 months from order to delivery.  They don't compare in quality to Axel but then my 1/3rd scale pilot cost 1/10th of the Axel cost!  I've ordered a 1:3.5 scale one for my ASW20 too.
