Been out this morning with Mr Sheep and he air tested his new 1/3rd scale Pup.

T'was a lovely morning and it looks the dogs dangly bits in the sun and even better in the air.

Nice one Mr Sheep, a fine craft indeed  :af :af :af

Top job, do you like it Mr Sheep? Hows it compare to the direct drive Camel?

Nice to see it has gone to a nice home.  I was tempted to purchase it when it came on eBay the first time. . . . .   or was it the second time  $%&

Could have been the third or fourth time  even :study:

I did loose count I have to be honest.

Her indoors would not let me click the "buy button"  says we have enough planes in the house.  What does she know  ;)

While sulking I have purchased a 1/3 Glenn Torrence Fokker DVII.  It's a new kit and I am sure the back of my head will hurt like hell when the box arrives!

Dunno about the back of your head, but your back will hurt carrying the box, my D.VIII kit weighed a bloody ton ;)

Just waiting for the cockpit kit and a few missing parts for mine, then time to buy a bigger building board :''

You'll love Glenns kit though, superb drawings and parts :af

Well everyone I speak to says Glenns kits are the Dogs so why give up a good thing.

Hopefully finished in 2011 so I can shoot the Sheep out od the sky.  That's if the back holds up.

Mrs. J is actually cool with the model, but I am sure the size going to be a problem in the kitchen where I have permission to build with special passes naturally  ^-^

I'll be running up a build thread for it no doubt.

YAY, thanks Charlie, good to see the pictures...

Ian, the Pup did feel lighter and able to fly a lot slower than the Camel. At one point I thought the Pup had parked itself stationery... But don't the controls get "very" soggy when you do!

The throttle response is instantaneous and provides immediate waft  :'' which caught me out on landing, and that I haven't flown for four months before this maiden... The touch of throttle i use to cushion the landing just lifted it into the air again..

Only had one flight as I had to rush of the the cinema (how to train your dragon) but will get out again later in the week..

Now, the 100cc 3W-twin from the Camel would go into the glider tug very well and I could find another Z38 and reduction drive to replace it in the Camel... :study:

If I can use "hopefully" too, then hopefully you won't need to shoot me down, i'll have the LVG as a flyer then!

I got 101 things to do right now, finish Rafalroo for the weekend, finish SE5a (big job) fit engine to Cristen Eagle, refurb my trailer (bigish job) either put the DR1 back together or sell it (just needs batteries and rudder servo fitting), put together my Black horse Cap 232 which is still in it's box before I think of any new jobs to do.  trouble is back is a bit crank right now.......... so throwing money at towbar and having it fitted tomorrow to the Vulva V40, I just cant do it right now :(

looking forward to seeing this new toy Stuey, may I get a twiddle on the stix  :''

In actual fact there were two or three WW1 gliders developed. Two of these of German desighn (airial torpedoes) and at least one Sopwith project. I dont have a lot on these but have a couple of piccies somewhere. Nothing new under the sun is there?      regards Ken

Siemens Schuckert 300kg Torpedoglieter also a 1000kg version also produced, (13.5ft and 24.5ft span bi plane gliders) these succesfully launched from an airship in the August of 1918 in a series of trials.Wire guided from the mother craft and accurate up to 4.5 miles range. Nowt by todays standard but  powered flight was only 15 years old then and had the war gone into its fifth year we can only guess at the results.   regards Ken
