I use my Royal Evo 7 to a Cockpit SX for buddying no issues at all even though the Royal is on 2.4 and the cockpit 35, so cant see you would have a issue with the Evo 9.

The following link takes you to a table showing which Tx can buddy to which, and which type of cable is required. Or you can use the new wireless buddy if the pupil tx is 2.4Ghz, the master tx can be 2.4 or 35.

I'm just about to try the cordless training stick Harry. Should be quite a boon, as some of those I've taught over the years have been happy wanderers while they've been learning. I threatened to nail the feet one one of them to the floor. The trainer stick system allegedly offers up to 30 metres range, so should help a lot.
We'll see.........
