I'll bring some gourmet burgers and drink!

I will need channel 84 if there is enough lift to fly my Swift - the rest will be 2.4

Sounds like it's well planned :-) If we are with it, we will see you there tomorrow. The view of Shoreham airport will be similar to the view we have now but from the other side of the fence!

A good tip worth noting

Max sausages on a disposable BBQ = 20 at one time
Max Burgers = 8 at one time

but as Gary has two BBQs we could use one for Sausages and one for Burgers.

It might be good if Dave (Bad Raven) got all the rolls then they would be freshest and not duplicated?
I'm guessing there will be about 10 of us but as rolls are cheap perhaps it might be a good idea to over cater and get "more than enough" sausage and burger rolls?!...

I have no experience of disposable BBQ but Asda are doing 3 for £5 - is 2 enough I could pick up 3?

Suggest anyone still using 35MHz lists frequency here, might help to set up before arrival and avoid clashes.

Remember, if at Mill Hill, EVENS only please, SRFC power field and airport (evening) is too close to ignore.

Most of my stuff is 2.4GHz, but a few are still steam powered, and are on 80 (2) and 66 (2).

I'm working  :'( in Staines until 4pm so won't be with you guys until 5:30 pm.
Hopefully some of you will still be there.
I intend to stay until sunset so you won't be on your own JJ.

Will you have a BBQ alight for tea time eats or will you have stuffed yorselves full at lunchtime?
I'll bring some burgers and rolls with me if the cooking facilty is still available.

I'm on 2.4 and 78

35 meg frequencies so far are 66, 78, 80 and 84.  - Any more to add?

Too many models to list - If I did they'd take up the whole page!

I think I have 3 barbeques at home, so I'll bring 'em all.

I imagine we'll have 8 or 10 people.  I suspect we'll have a few less North Downs folk than if it had been north wind, since they have SW slopes locally.

OK, guys, since I was coming down today, I did a recce.  I thought I'd better swing by, cos with all the NE's recently Mill Hill has not been on my visits list for a while, and the last time the hill was diff to negotiate due road works.

So I arrived 12:15, left 16:15.  Little group of the regulars present.

Sunny, good visibility, wind OK to good, lift quite high, lots of air traffic in circuit (inc a Citabria!), NO close approaches.  Loads of room in car park.

To give a flavour, the following planes flew while I was there (inc mine)

Wild Thing 46"
Wild Thing 60"
Fusion 46"
Fusion 60"
Voodoo (Pylon racer)
Catalina Flying Boat
Modeltech Mustang
FlyingWings Hawk
Multiplex Fox (stretched wings)
Phase 6
FlyingWings Slipstream
Easyglider
Couple of mouldies (they all look the same to me.............. ;D ;D ;D ;D)

And several own designs inc two of mine.

Shoreham record................

About what Gary said, 15mph up the slope.

Forecast is similar for tomorrow, hope I didn't wear it out.  ;)

The best route in off the A27 is:-

A283 Steyning Road
Left at mini-roundabout into
Upper Shoreham Road
Left immediately after pedestrian crossing into
Erringham Road  (Brown Tourist Sign)
swing left into
The Street
Right into
Mill Hill

Warning: The Street/Mill Hill bottom junction is blind, single track, AND INCREDIBLY IS A FULL WIDTH BUS ROUTE coming down from Mill Hill Drive!!  :D

Road is single track with passing places, initially just in people's drives, soon after the bridge over the A27 go past the first level "car park" gravel area , on up the hill, past the waterworks on the left and to the signposted wooden fenced and gated car park.

Are you sure thats a right on to Mill Hill it looks like a left ;)

1hr 42mins for me, so I reckon I will be there for around 11 ish assuming the bridge and M25 is OK.   :af

I have some buns, bratwurst and some burgers but strangely no drink at the moment!

Aldij is staying at home, I now dont have a RX for it, but the Alex and Fish will be making the trip and I'll see how long the Fusion stays in one bit!.

Might bring the Binary with me too just in case.

Let's hope that's not necessary after all the trouble we're going to!  Isn't it just f^&%ing typical that we've endured Northerly winds for so many weeks and now we get SW?!...

We're not going to make it :(
Once we got in, unpacked and did all the other post holiday stuff we just crashed out. This morning, I feel like I'm on another planet - not with it at all.
Have a great day and I'll join you on the next one.
Please take loads of photos of the action :)

Don't Panic !

As you see from above posts pic, the forecast 8-10 yesterday was actually locally a 14, and that was on the airport at sea level.  Up the hill it was sufficiently more, enough that a few "fat boy" overweight WT's were quite OK on it as the lift was very good.

Looking now it's 3 N offshore, which is the same as yesterday at this time.

Great to see you guys today.  What fantastic weather!  The lift wasn't great, but it more or less did the job.

The Thurnham Massive were shocked by the small size of the landing zone - "Wot!! Only 100 yards to land in?  Can't be done!!"

But actually about the only destruction was achieved by a South Downs resident.

I think maybe we should organise another one in Aug or Sept.

I took a ton of pics, I'll post a few.
