Last night was my first access to the web/world in a week. Sadly no hills, just trees and water. Northern Finland is like that. If I was a fisherman or an arsonist then I'd be in heaven.

( Amongst MY muppet stuff: I did break my arm kitesurfing into a tree in 38° on a beach near Nassau. And trod on a sea urchin on a reef in the Red Sea and then had to windsurf back downwind 15miles with the spines getting stuffed further into my foot with every bit of chop. Most painful hobby related injury was horseplay with the Red Bull crowd at Malaga airport on the way back from Tarifa. Crashed my trolley. I was on it at the time and cracked two ribs. Buggers didn't set all summer as I had to keep kiting.)

Anyway, back to the arson and fishing.

OOOOER, I did briefly have a pinky but in my defence it was 'mans pink' and I passed it on pretty swiftly.

Are you saying that some people actually tweet from the slope, what are the tweets about? Wind speed, slopes in use, crashes, - I can see it a good way to let people know whats happenning and where but whats wrong with a quick text of phone call. Perhaps I am just getting old! I must confess to use facebook and find it a useful tool to keep in touch with family, friends and ex students but I am not one of these people who is constantly on it - maybe once or twice a day at the most. Also I seem to remember reading in some mag that mobile phone signals can cause problems with the chips in our radios or was that in the days of analogue mobile phones. By the way I have a pink Zagi

Nope. I'm asking if they do.
It's all new to me and I'm trying to find out if there is an interest. Call it a social experiment if you like. A micro blog in real time.
Might have been useful for the VR etc where info was only posted at the end of the day and there was a more general interest.
Surely an extension (or progression) of the aftermath of a decent flying day on a forum just like this one.
These boards are full of people posting about their experiences of the day after the event, but why not real time?
Seems strange to label it 'gay' and then post againsomewhere else telling us what a stormin day you had on the hill after it was all over.

Maybe it's just me...

we've had eyeboy and sj posting here live from staggy for some time on our little thread, the rest of us just don't have decent phones and it's of no interest for anyone else but locals.

Might tell other people where to avoid! LOL

For a big event where people are eager to find results or get the latest action it would work quite well... but general use on slope... lord gayness of pinkyville.

Maybe so but across 8 forums the response is about 50/50 so far.
Just tryin' to get a feel for it.
Maybe RCMF slopers are a little too 'old'.......

You're only seeing forum posts and not the people signing up or sending PM's.
People really have to stop thinking that the world revolves around forums.  
Like I often say - they represent a minority of people in a minority fringe of a minority pastime. Far (occassionally very far) from the real world.

I simply stated that in two of the forums (out of the 8 you said you had asked) it was a 100% no.

i may be wrong coz i don't use it, but on twitter don't you follow one person who started that tvv&t?
so unless everyone wants to know your own flying exploits ( theres only going to be a few fliers in the country that will have a following at all ) it's not really a shared experience
unless it's more like the old BMFA forum thing, where everyones just updating on one page, then scroll through to find the feeds you want, the bad side is many conservations on one page.

i wonder just how hard it'd be to have a twunter section on the forum, send a text, ends up on a page here somewhere.

well i know you can post using a phone browser in the normal way, but as for pure texting which most of us can do on older phones
