Is there any good reason why a 35 Meg Rx antenna should not be repaired if it should become "shortened" or will it make no difference to the performance if soldered back together or fixed with the appropriate length of new wire?

I read something in the current Tx aerial repair thread about soldering introducing dissimilar metals. Is that an issue on an Rx antenna? If so, what does it do? Just curious, as I would never have thought that.

Obviously the ideal repair is a full length replacement. But is a repair likely to be fit for purpose?

I quite like the new layout, but it's forced me to think of a new signature. :(

Aerials can be repaired wiyhout undue concern - just ensure that the length (NOT critical) is more or less as it was and you'll be fine.

I used to build antenna systems and despite the theory - Shoving a Kilowatt into 'bits of best bent wire' seemed problem free with disimilar metals - solder joints - twisted wires and all - anyway this is a receiver - it's passive! :af

Thanks. I realise it's not going to cause transmission interference. Really just wondering if it will work well.  :) So it looks as if it will. Splendid. I do have a replacement, but I can't find it at the moment, so thought this might do as a fix.
