Turnigy 35/48 1100Kv motor
Turnigy Plush 80A ESC
Turnigy 4S 4000 li-po
Aeronaut 12.5x9 blades.

Somewhere between 1100 and 1200 watts.  Does it for me!

tim (Bandit #4)

Not too far removed from what I have eventuall bought for it...

Setup will be as follows

Motor
Model: TR35-48-A
Input Voltage : 7.4V~18.5V (2~5S Li-po)
Kv : 1100 rpm/V within 10%
Dimensions : 35mm X 55mm

80A Castle Creations ESC, max peak 120A

2700Mah 30c 4S Li-po, so a constant supply of 81A peak at around 108A

Prop, Aeronaut folding carbon, somewhere between 12 x 8 to 13 x 8 I would think, but testing needed. Even though the motor is rated at a mere 55A-60A, peak burst will be nearer to 80-90A  . I dont care if I cook it as its the cheapest part of the entire setup  Power is estimated to be used in 3 - 5 second bursts.

Wing servos will be Hitec HS125MG slimlines

Elevator servo, Hitec HS82MG

3A UBEC as the ESC will only handle 3S when using BEC mode, add to the safety too.

Hopefully will be getting it all together over the next couple of weeks or so, apparetnly it should have enough power to hand launch without a run and chuck  :''

Steve,

I'd have a look at the Turnigy ESC that I'm using.  It has a built-in SBEC (what ever that is), and has been 100% solid.  Less than £40 too.......

No need to run when launching; just a firm shove will do!

I never finish anyth

Well I done a quick test of the motor, esc, prop and li-po last night, prop used Aeronaut 13 x 8 folding.

The results....

Its pulling around 72 amps peak on a 4s pack fully charged. My watt meter wouldn't read it as it went over 1KW, but best guess is around 1100 to 1200 watts. Things do get warm very fast, but if i stick to 3 second bursts all should be good  :af

I dug out the servo holes too, not a nice job, I looked like I was in one of those shake up snow globes  ;D

Will try and fit the servo linings later, maybe even the wing servos if I can round to it.  $%&

It might be worth going down an inch in pitch and/or diameter as a bit of insurance until you can reliably measure how many Amps are being consumed. The up side is that the motor will unload a bit in the air, but if it's getting warm quickly it sounds like the motor is running way beyond it's peak efficiency and max rating.

Comfortably numb......

Taking your advice, I think I will drop it down to a 13 x 7 for the initial runs and see how it goes  :af

It also helps if you do a bit of gliding. Not something I do a lot of TBH but it will help.

Ok, this isn't funny, who's moved my sense of humour?
