Well, i went out & bought a new Dremel yesterday to replace the one that lost its "magic blue smoke" a few weeks ago :banghead:
Price varied wildly by as much as £18  :o

Does your furio have a ballast tune in the fuz? Mine does not but there is plenty room for one. All my ballast goes in the joiner so its a bit of a pain as all the ballast is forward of the c of g.

Yep, the Ballast goes in the fuz, "Simples". I'l take some pics & post them later with details :af

Thanks. I can get plenty lead in the joiner its just that the trim changes a bit between full and empty with the c of g moving forward.

Just need to find a suitable tube to put in it now. Ill have to get a different battery up front too so i can get the rx up there too. My furio has had a fair bit of repair work too. Fuz snapped in front of the tail and just infront of the wing. Both wings have had the tips broken too at some point. Still need to paint the repairs on the fuz.

My new Dremels just been wizzing round nicely. I've cut out a section of the damaged bottom panel & laid some carbon tows along the leading edge. Alignment wasn't to difficult but i've used a bitt of clear sellotape instead of masking tape, to make sure all is true :xx
Once this has cured i can begin work on the rest of the wing.

Afternoon free today so more work planned on the wing. Leading edge looks spot on to me & has made everything much less "Wibbly wobbly" :af

To avoid any confusion, i only contacted Breta for a quote out of curiosity, i'm not going to buy a new wing.

I've put some more pics together of the Lundy trip, added some music, & popped em on here :co

!

These were taken on Monday 23rd on the West slope, next to the Old Lighthouse.  It was a "Cracking day" with absolutely "Ballistic" lift in a really good blow onto the 400 ft high granite cliff.
 Thought you'd all like a look !
There's a few stories to go along with some of the pics ;D............ Unless someone offers to pay for my Barn accomodation for next years trip, i'l post em later ;)

Well, for some reason my camera is still  flattly refusing to transfer any pics :banghead:.
Dont reckon its due to Cyano though Woodstock, more likely to be due to me  dripping "Blood, sweat & tears" on it ;D

Well, my camera still wont download any pics :banghead: so i thought i'd update you anyway, on the progress i've made.
The leading edge repair went well, carbon tows & a solid carbon rod laid along inside the wing has sorted that break out nicely.
I opened up a damaged area of the bottom skin, so as to gain access to the main spar. I made up 2  ply / carbon brace's and laid these along either side of the spar.
Where the top skin itself had sheared apart i used carbon cloth on the inside to reinforce the joins.
Once all that had cured i then carbon cloth reinforced the damaged areas of the bottom skin, again on the  inside, before replacing the area i had removed, which again is carbon cloth reinforced.
I've started work on a few of the chipped edges again using carbon.

I assembled the Furio in the garden this afternoon and was very surprised just how little weight the repairs had added to the damaged wing :)

The Fuz has also been carbon re-inforced on he inside around the break area & beyond.

I finally tracked down the correct paint match today & promptly went along & bought a can of it, along with primer & lacquer.

An order's going to Mr Breta tomoz for a new nose sheath.

I've taken pics at all the different stages, & there on the camera OK, it just wont transfer them $%&, as soon as i've sorted it i'l post em.
  Stuart.

Ive had a few Pm's asking me whats happened to my Furio repair thread so i thought i'd update you all on whats been happening.
Finding time to work on it has been extreemly difficult due to my elderly mum being seriously in hospital. Visiting her has meant 2hr drive each way plus the famous A303 jams at Stonehenge which can add 40 mins or more :banghead:
Thanks to all who have wished her well during this difficult time, much appreciated :af

I'l update you on the work i've done ASAP.

OK, update time.
The repair to the nose of the fuz was "Simples" to finish off. I filled & smoothed all the imperfections with P38, & i lined the inside of it with Carbon cloth. A respray of the nose resulted in the pics attached below.

I ordered a new nose Sheath from the guys at Breta in the Czeck republic. Dana quoted me approx a month wait for it, but it was sitting on my workshop bench in less than half that time
Top marks go to Dana at Breta, he replied to all my e-mails very quickly & was extreemly helpfull  :af

After completing the repair to the wing its been a matter of filling all the surface imperfections, sanding back, Priming, undercoat & top coat.
The underside blue & white panels and the green to the top skin has been done & i'm now finishing off a respray to the blue & white wing tip.

servo's are back in the fuz & linkages reconnected. Battery & reciever are also back in.

 Stuart.

Sounds like we will be seeing it soon up kingsclere!

Can you let me know when you are heading up the slope next? I'm very interested in looking at your Epp S15 and getting your advice before I start my gulp.

Also, Rimmer has got me thinking about 2.4ghz! Do we know if any Furios are flying 2.4?? Mine has the carbon nose and very little room to play with!

cheers mate

Good luck with the re-maiden Stuart.

While we're on the subject of Furios; LSF AusMilang F3J 2009 was won with a Furio V! Mike Rae and his trusty green Furio trounced a field consisting of World-Class thermal pilots including Messers J Wurts and C.Strautins!

I'm on the lookout for a Furio V m'self.

Yep, it wont be long now till it takes to the Kingsclere slopes again :af

As for any Furio's on 2.4  $%& but Dana at Breta told me that he can make a 2.4 friendly nose sheath no probs.

Its time to re-atach the flap. Ive bought a tube of Geocel Aquarium sealant as recomended on other threads. All the threads ive read though have been for the re-atachment of Ailerons, i'm worried that the sealant wont allow enough flap movement. Anyone out there tell me if this might be a prob. Anyone got any tips for me using this sealant :xx

I've only done it once, so don't take this as gospel, but I would think you'd want to set the silicon with the surface at half the travel (i.e. flaps almost halfway down) rather than straight as for ailerons/elevators/rudders.

It will mean it spends 99.9% of it's time at almost full twist (assuming your flaps go up just a few degrees and down loads), and that's what I'm not sure about how well it will cope over time.

Oh, hang on - it isn't 'fly it like you borrowed it, land it like you stole it', is it!
So that's where I've been going wrong...

The secret with silicone hinging is to leave much less than you would think you need.  It should handle flap type deflections fine.  I might back the hinge up with a strip of diamond tape (in fact, if it was me, I'd use diamond tape hinges only).
