Fly a jet Vince, much better in the wind.

Did you see this video taken at Barkston?

i agree Gary, Vince needs to get back out there. Saying that about the wind i test flew an Eflite Showstring on Sunday. It was blowing a gale and everyone else was in the club hut but it flew fine.

As asked my rudder mod pics might be of some use to others.
ila_rendered
I cut mine to the black lines but would probably go with the red lines if doing it again, I did'nt have a plan so was'nt sure exactly where the ribs were inside. (Measurements on the right are from edge of fin).
ila_rendered
I cut out a square in the rudder, the length of my control horn, and the width of the ball link + the thickness of the two horns.

I then cut two wooden blocks the size of the hole with their height the same as between the two skins so when I dropped them in, I could push them to either side so giving me a "wall" to glue my control horns too. (sorry forgot to take pic).

After the two blocks were glued in place (glue set) I glued in the two horns with another block wedged between the two. The piece of top skin I cut out, I was able to trim down and re-glue in place. Could'nt get a good match for the paint but passable enough.
Might repaint it later.

My final install pics forgot to post them earlier.
Main tray has the Spektrum AR9200 and two 5000mah lipo packs so enough power for full days flying.  UP2 valve for retracts and doors and an old festo/jetronic valve for the brakes.

Just the standard two fibreglass tanks, plumbed in parallel, 4mm festo filter was supplied with the Merlin 140 so stuck with that.

Nothing in the turbine bay at all kept everything forward, final weight was 14.5Kg with the two pilots and intially a 2300 2 cell lipo for the ECU with 300g lead in the nose but now a 5000mah lipo and much less lead.
Means now none of the batteries will need charging at the field.
CG at 155mm for first flight.
