Richard,
I completely understand the time and money You invested in the model. Remember, I lost my painstakingly modified and painted MiG-21 bis. But,
as a result I will never hassle with the Chinese kits again. Too many problems with them.
Glad FeiBao is willing to step up on this one for You, this is not always the case as I´ve understood.
There´s the whole winter of time to build...

BR,
TP.

Thanks buddy,  it may not be scratchbuilt but alot of time, effort  and money still went into it and need to be replaced. New kit arrives in Feb/March.
Happy Days   Richard.

Hi Rich

Knowing the insides of the F-5 well having built the Skymaster version, I suspect your hatch was 'blown' out from inside rather than being ripped off from the outside.

The intakes on the F-5 are large, and aren't linked to a full 'bypass' ducting.....the intake mouldings as basically as per a D/F model ending in an approx 5" diameter duct. We then drop the turbine in a void under the top hatch and the only 'outlet' area is via the bifurcated tail pipes......the area of which is no where near as large as the intake area. So, as soon as this thing starts moving forwards, more air is getting in that can get out, so the fuz will be pressurised..........do this at 150+ and I suspect there will be quite an internal pressure trying to blow open the tail end hatch, the main gear doors, airbrakes and even the top hatch..........

Can you not run a full bypass system so that all incoming air passes over the turbine and out the back end without entering the main fuselage cavity?.......I suspect simply beefing up the tail end hatch won't be a guaranteed fix :-\

Just my 2p's worth...........

Hi Phil,
You are exactly on the same wavelength as me, I said on an earlier post that I thought the hatch blew out, because every time i flew it I had either the doors opening or the airbrakes opening when the speed built up despite fitting extra BVM rams. Funnilly enough, Martyn from Acejets the kit importer feels the same way. the kit did come with a full bypass but was not easy to fit, so I elected to use half the bypass like alot of people do with their jets. (my L39 has only a part bypass) However, due to the narrow shape of the F5, I think your right too much air builds up at speed. One of the mods is to fit full bypass and maybe reduce intakes inside the ducts. However the Feibao F5 flying at the Xmas bash seemed okay, but was fitted with a smaller engine. Many thanks for your thoughts. :af
Richard.
