How is yours coming along?

Extra surface detailing is all complete & she's ready for paint. We'll be rolling out the 6" brushes & Dulux emulsion before Xmas as I know Alex is wanting here ready to roll for April Barkston. (We'll restart the thread updates as soon as we're splashing some colour about :af)

Hope to make more progress this weekend, subject to my dad being realeased from Hospital. However, its very unlikely it will be ready for the Xmas fly-in :'( As I really want to test fly it beforehand and be comfortable with it before flying it at fly-ins etc. Will have my L39 at the Xmas fly regardless. May even take the F5 up for static/engine tests.
Richard.

My F5 will not be ready for the Xmas fly-in :'( taking more time than I thought to finish final install. Nevermind, not worth rushing. Hopefully, Martyn,(Feibao agent) will have his lovely Panther done very soon too and we can have a double test flight :P
Merry Xmas to you all.

Hi Chaps,
Back on the F5, feeling alot better now. I Had a slight issue with my F5 retract today. I would just like to give a bit of credit where due, and thank Martyn, from Acejets for the superb turnaround service he offers. His care and attention to detail are second to none. I  recommend that when anyone is in the market for a new Jet, they consider the Feibao range.   Thank you Martyn.
Cheers Richard.

Yeah finally back on track :af.
Do you remember the BEFORE installation picture, here it is:

Here is the AFTER final installation of equipment:

Re-fit the turbine now, I have done all the ECU installation. Hope to balance over the weekend. Need to then set up tailplanes to zero incidence with wing.

Actually, I quite like the look of the writhing, inter-twined snake pit shown in the first photograph (Joke  ;D)

When are you going to get it all tooled up?  It is a warbird after all and you'd be able to fly it at that blokes warbird Fly-In in April.
It will look great with missiles, tanks and, oh yes, a cardboard box :nananana:

But seriously Richard,  you've done a tidy job of fitting it out.   Don't be too cross about missing out the starter/glow lead.   I know of some brand new fullsize aircraft that have been stripped and re-wired but that's another story .....

Will fit turbine back in tonight and maybe balance tomorrow.

I know mate, doesn't matter how neat you try and make it I find it has to be a bit untidy in the bowels otherwise you can't get the plates in and out properly for access, called "tails" I beleive!
Gary.
p.s. Don't "rush" it, especially that strange leak, if you don't find it for sure it'll bite you one day!

Hi Rich, just personal preference here, but I certainly wouldn't have mounted that thingy there, plus that other doofer should surely be closer to the wotsit to ensure no problems with the secondary thingy. You definately need to ensure you have no problems with your secondary thingy. Other than that, and those nasty coloured pipes, it looks passable :af

Just a thought, Ian.

Only if its fitted on the left of that second doofer, Pylons is clearly fitted above and to the right, so will, in this configuration only increase the risk of developing the problems Pylon mentioned, or is soon about to :banghead:

Got the F5 balanced today with Acejets help. Also got the tailplanes set at zero to the wing. I have a question $%& I will now be using 2x A123 2300mah 6.6v packs upfront. Do I have to use the balance lead everytime $%& cause mine only have 2" leads on them :banghead: I also want to fit the packs semi -permanent in the nose if possible $%&
Cheers Richard.

I'll give you some advice, don't eat yellow snow!

I haven't actually used 123's yet but have done a fair bit of research, as they are only two cell balancing is not too much of a problem, not as critical on balancing as Lipo's, but again because  I use two cell one's I find these are not that critical to balancing either.
With lipo's I check the cell voltages from time to time and they rarely go out of sync so I would not worry yourself too much with 123's,
Gary.
