It's getting closer folks... Hoping that Joe will chime in here with some updates as they happen...

But here's some fun stats anyway from Joe's planning:

3.3m
14lb (6.3kg) empty
40lb (18.2kg) full

Three piece wing with different mass outer joiners to spanload.

Each joiner in the heaviest material, steel, weighs 9lb (4kg).

Right now Joe has nearly completed the plugs. Hopefully pictures coming soon!

Let me know if you go off anywhere soon mate. I want to launch the UK's first pink DS model! I've also sorted out my flap throws on the D80 so that I can get her (hopefully) slowed down a lot better for landing with all that extra ballast onboard. She's 8lb 10oz empty now and 12lb full!

12lb?
Isn't that the mass of Joe's D80 span-loading? ;D

D130 stats. OMG  :ev
Will the K100s get in on the act here first?

LOL no Joe's recommended span load on the D80 is 1lb - 16oz per tip. I'm using 12oz per tip as I'm not as fearless as Joe!

I think Joe has flown his D80 many times approaching 20lb in weight.

Regarding the K100's - I think they will be quite close together! Let's see - crikey - this is going to be SOMETHING else having those models on the same hill!

Not as far as I am aware mate. I think Mark's was done but in the incorrect scheme so he decided to wait on the next batch.

Well I seem to recall you asking me about it for starters Graham! But no, I am aiming to purchase one for myself - and then anyone else who's interested gets to have a poke around my model and make their own minds up as to whether they want one. I really need to get out more though. Want to be ready to use this thing well when the conditions come.

think i'd feel the impact from here if one gets spanked during a full fat run!

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

Yeah if you want a go on my D80 just let me know. Invitation open to anyone who can handle it. Might not be to happy with someone DSing it 4ft off the deck, but hey - it's set-up so sweet now that I want people to see what they are like. So there's only one way to do that really.

LOL you do have a point there mate... Any nonsense like that and you'll be handing the tx back to me pronto!

To be serious though, it will have to be people who crash less than 5 models in a day. Sorry Scott.

LOL just reading that. Case in point on the last time out Mark - not the right day for you to fly my D80  ;D ;D ;D

On another note, Joe's workshop relocation is now pretty much complete, and work has recommenced on the D130. As I understand it, right now the plugs are in primer ready for the final flat back before the high gloss finish goes on prior to polishing and creating the moulds.

It is amazing to consider the range that the phrase 'RC Glider' covers. One of those tip joiners weighs the same as the first 15 planes in DLG event.
Amazing work. You look at the 130" span and think that it's not much bigger than an F3F and then you see the wing thickness, the fus size...
Remarkable. And it looks right somehow in the way that the 160 didn't - although that is probably in retrospect. Anyway fingers crossed for some good wind for Joe.

Incredible isn't it John? I think (hopefully Joe will correct me if I'm wrong here) that the D130 has a little bit more aspect ratio than the D160. I think it's stretched 10 inches longer in the centre panel than a direct scale down would have been.

This model is so exciting. The thought of flying it completely terrifies me, and that's a good thing! What a rush it will be!!
