Obvious isn't it? The only present you want others to use while you play with something else...

Far from obvious.
Your reference to a vibrator renders it ambiguous.

One mystery solved.

But Santa's got something else in his bag.
1. It's on its way from HK
2. It's not a plane, but is for inclusion in a plane
3. It's unusual, possibly unique, in UK.

If it's a gyro ,i'd suggest you give Mike at West Wales Models a call,he's got one in a multiplex Twister,it works very well but took a little bit of fiddling to set up and he may be able to give you some valuable tips.

It's a Futaba GYA351, dual channel in/out, which will find its way onto ailerons.

Should be interesting & add a further dimension to the fun. :af

I love how the mention of gyros kicks off a whole 'thats cheating' attitude on merkingroups, yet buying a VERY expensive (didn't a Thundertaker or such go for $10K on the slope?) large plane with masses of lead in the tips  is not deemed as such.
I guarantee that you could break 500mph tomorrow with a gyro and it wouldn't be accepted. Despite the game having no formal rules.

I'm not sure that it is characterised as cheating. For my personal opinion, I think you've got two classes of mod. Passive aids and active ones. I think tipweight becomes part of the models design and set-up and as such is purely passive.

So for me, gyros are an active aid coz they move the control surfaces without input from the pilot, and as such I'm not too sure that gyro assisted records can be accepted in the same class as records set by aircraft which have no active pilot aids. Although they are certainly an interesting diversion.

I think (could be wrong) that Thundertakers are around $7k for the airframe.

Re gyros, anything that can counter a sudden flick through the shear quicker than any pilot has got to be a good thing as far as safety is concerned  $%& (I was told 15+yrs ago the then new JR347 computer transmitter was 'cheating'  :banghead:) Will be watching Deckit's pioneering with interest  :af
