After a year off Bickley MFC will be holding a jet event in 2011. The dates for the event are June 11/12 and as normal it will be any model type on the Saturday and jets/DF only on the Sunday.

As many will know the Bickley site is grass and not massive. It also has various restrictions which must be avoided at all times. These restrictions are the reason we did not hold the jet event in 2010 and are now even tighter than before. This means that the flying area will be as the Sunday of the last jet meet which did work very well but we did have the wind direction in our favor. Hopefully it will be again this year!

We simply cannot push our luck so bare that in mind when deciding what models to bring. Some of the larger/faster models that are around today are simply not suitable on our site and could potentially cause us as a club a lot of unwanted grief. Those that have been before know the score so I ask you all to be sensible with what you fly. by all means though bring models for static only.

Despite these restrictions we still always mange to have a fantastic, fun and relaxed weekend with a lot of great models and great pilots so I'm sorry to preach but it is VERY IMPORTANT!

This year we are asking for formal booking in and the relevant form will be available very soon. We may also ask for your £5 flying fee up front and are considering restricting the amount of pilots this year so it could be first come first served and a time limit on entrants.

Again, sorry to preach but as Bickley members will know, we have had a lot of issues over the last year with various things all of which thankfully have been sorted, but I don't want the jet event to damage us. But, with careful planning and pilots that conform, we can put Bickley back on the jet map!

cheers all

Gregg

A pilot application form can now be downloaded from the Bickley website www.bickleymodelflyingclub.co.uk see the 'Downloads' tab. ALL pilots need to fill in a form please but Bickley members don't need to send money.

In the past non jet flyers have taken advantage of the site and turned up and flown only on the Saturday with large aerobatic models without paying the pilot charge. This won't be allowed this time! The fact that we allow other models to fly on the Saturday is to give something extra to jet flyers. This is a jet meet after all

So, no application...no fly!

Hope this makes sense

Cheers

Gregg

This is one of the best events of the year, where you can fly with the most friendlyest bunch of characters you could wish to meet :af (enough of me :ev)

It was a disastrous disappointment that it had to be canceled last year, so come and have a great weekend or day out :af

For those booking in, I won't be sending you anything as confirmation but your name will appear on post 1 of the RCU thread once I receive both the form and the payment (if not Bickley member). On the day all forms will be in a folder to enable a rapid signing in process.

Remember, no form no fly, and that includes Bickley members!

Something that should have been on the application form (and will be soon) is that all UK pilots MUST hold a BMFA 'B' cert

If you have already booked in for this event, can you tell me if you could make the weekend before or not. I may have to change the date to June 4/5

Thanks

Finished my new little EDF toy for Bickley Jets! Hopefully it lasts that long!!  Just got to put the Decals on.  I wont enter this pylon race I'm worried it will melt in the wake of all the these "Kero burners!"

Some build photos if its of interest.

Looking good Henry.
Get it painted. its worth the effort.  I have seen a few painted now, and it really does transform the model. Straight from Halfords Spray cans seems to be the way to go.  I will try and get some pics up of a few that i have seen so far.
The pylon race at B Jets will be limited to foamy edf's only I think.   If the club can sort out a pair of simple pylons, then I think it will be the least I can do to donate a EDF Viper kit as a prize.
Not sure what the category should be, as I see a flat out race being a bit difficult to judge.... Not that I would suggest that there would be any cheating  ::)

Result, a prize for sorting out pylons!  :af

Stick that suggestion on RCU and I'm sure some club members would be suggested as pylons!

Hi Henry
These are ours painted, they certainly liven up the model even though we are not that good at spraying.
