Anyone got experience with ether Lipo on LiFe TX battery's

yes, use lipos in my tx.

It's a lot like having a nickel battery in that it powers the TX ;)

The only thing to do is match voltages to what the nickel battery voltage.  My tx is designed for 6 cell nickel batteries (nominal 7.2v) and therefore takes a 2s lipo (nominal 7.4v) just fine.  I guess if you have a tx designed for 8 cell  nickel batteries, you could use a 3s LiFe battery (9.6v to 9.9v).

I haven't noticed a huge improvement in my flying ability however.  I don't know if it's wise to charge lipos in situ, I taken them out, but then the back of the tx unclips in mine, so it's not a problem.

Life would seem the bettery option due to the safer charging and higher charge rate, if you tx voltage matches (IMHO).

I use a Hyperion 9,9V 2100mah LiFe pack in my Graupner MC-22. It can be charged at 1,5Ah through the normalt charging plug, and if I´m in a hurry, I can remove the back of the TX and charge the pack directly.
I have equipped the TX with a Weatronic 2,4 Ghz module so current draw is a bit higher than normal I guess, but I still have 9 hours on the pack before the alarm goes off at 8,5V, and by then there is still plenty of juice left on the pack for at safe landing (about 45mins according to a friend who have tested the packs a bit more).

Best Regards
Tinus

Im using 2 life cells in my dx6i, they are 1200 mah. Gives me hours of flying and charges in 20 mins.

One vote against.  In a transmitter, LSD NiMh such as Eneloops or Instants give all the advantages of lipo with none of the disadvantages.

Cheers

If your TX is designed for an 8 cell nihm pack then don't. The JR engineer comes on here and he has said he always knows when a TX has been run on Lipo's and it wasn't designed for it. Just because the TX works when you first start using the a lipo the extra voltage will cause some compenents to have a shorter lifespan

i have used a 2 cell li-po in my cockpit sx for 2 years and my hitec has the 3 cell li-po been in there for nearly five years
but as has been said instants are just as good not like the old loose the charge nicads
i also use A123 cells for the rx's as well just be care full that  any servos can take that little bit extra but i have not had a problem so far must be 2-3 years

Any spellng mistak is don with full intend to amuse the reder, so if you find one you can have it fo

I can't see a problem running a 3s LiFe cell (9.9v) instead of a 8 cell nickel battery (9.6v).  Both will run higher than the nominal voltage when charged.  That being said, I agree that there isn't a massively compelling reason for using a LiFe battery over nickel, when the nickel work fine.

It does make my multiplex profi 4000 a bit lighter to use lipo batteries as it runs off 6 cell Sub C batteries, which are pretty heavy.

I agree about LiFe but as the thread was about LiPo my comments relate to them  :af

without wanting to be confrontational, maybe you should read the first post:

LiPo packs are not recommended as they can stress the components due to the higher voltage.  LiFe are a safer alternative as they have a lower cell voltage and therefore the pack voltage will be lower.

Another reason not to use LiPo in Tx? It's widely stated that it's not a good idea to charge them IN the Tx..........    $%&

A friend of mine swore by LiPos in his Tx until he forgot to turn it off and left it on overnight. Expensive mistake. NiMhs will usually survive such treatment.
