Remember all those synchronised, co-operating quadcopters?

Sometimes they disagree...

Oh, hang on - it isn't 'fly it like you borrowed it, land it like you stole it', is it!
So that's where I've been going wrong...

Even better, that's a university robotics course in the US. When they are working well, they are much more impressive...

Won't be long until Star Wars style 'practice droids' are out and about either...

Thanks for sharing!

Isn't it just? - the thread title is well wide of the mark  :nananana:

That's one of the problems with the the net - the occasional failures get undue prominence and (while they are amusing) tend to give the impression that most scientific endeavour is FUBAR...

My fault, I assumed people would have seen the original videos already...

I hadn't - but your thread did serve to bring them to my attention  :af

I should add that my second para wasn't a pop at you personally - more of a general observation  :)

the flying through the thrown hoop confuses me, the quadcopter starts it's move before the hoops even begun to come back down, how did the system know it was going to come back down and not just carry on going up.
theres some clever stuff going on here, i'd like to see them develop it in the real world, because you can't have IR lamps and cameras dotted about outside.
does also look like uni kids d*cking about with toys just because they can tho don't it  ;D

I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

I think you mean 'experimenting with dynamic reactive control law scenarios'.

As for the hoop, I'd expect any autonomous control system to have a fairly good understanding of gravity. If it can see the hoop it can also track it and spot that it's unpowered and predict it's future path.

Truly spooky, but I can imagine the military would pay a lot when the technology has matured enough to use. Imagine the possibilities for surveillance duties or anti-personnel devices.
