ESSA  cross country comp this weekend
Weather looks like 16mph WNW and dry
So it's the top of the Longman, probably the best place for a XC except the walk of cause.
the only trouble I'm having is which model to take  $%&

This Sunday the 18th - aargh, I can't do it, it's my daughter's birthday party.  Such a pity, I think the Falcon would have enjoyed it.  Well, have a good one.

I am looking forward to it Allen, & shall stick with my little foam Wildy, just incase it travels a bit too far back. :)

Conflicting weather for sunday morning at the mo
XC weather says ok but BBC and Metoffice say heavy rain
We will have to see a little closer to the time

BBC always predicts more rain that XC.  BBC is just more pessimistic I guess.  The problem is sometimes they're right...

I think I'll be taking the minivec if it's West & 16-20, not for the XC but for some bloody good aero :ev (I don't have anything worth flying in the comp...remember my F3F entry ;)

The trouble with the XC comp is, you need something light enough to get as much height as poss to we about to fly out of lift for as long as possible but you also need something that penetrates well to get you back to the slope when your running out of height.

Hi Allen
Think you mist me off the results  :'(  I completed the course except for missing the white flag as couldn't get enough height.

Hi Allen,

I reached 2 flags on my first run with Clive, & the second run I opted to land in the "landing zone" when forced to land when the sink came through with you.

Did Clive not fly it? He was there whilst we did the 2nd run.

I have you down as 2 flags but no landing who did your scoring?

ROFL,  ;D

On my 1st run it was Clive that did my scoring, but I only managed to complete the 2 red flags.

On my 2nd run it was YOU that did my scoring!...My Wildy was getting lower & lower in sink, & you asked me to keep away from the slope so that Jim could land!...It got to the point where I decided to abort, & opted to fly straight up the slope & down it in the "landing zone".  ::)

Lol, ;D

I am 100% sure that I have seen 1 or 2 newbies on here "lurking", with familiar sounding ESSA member related usernames, but they have not post anything yet?  ;)

If you do contact that other odd ESSA email address, try & find out what there fees are. ;D

At least it isn't a link to the Enfield Scout Sailing Association.

(My favourite surprising link is the LGRA slope soaring guys - they  found they were linked to the Liberty Gay Rodeo Association!)

How long are people planning to hang around on Sunday?

I have a charity bike ride of 39miles at about 9.30-10.00
so I should be done by 12 and be up Crowlink by about 12.30 assuming I can fit planes and bike safely in the car together
