I'm currently campaigning an FX-40, primarily to learn the art of flying with long sticks and a tray. It's taking a long time to settle in with the new format, having been used to flying with a hand-held tx for many years. That said, I'm beginning to feel the benefits and slowly I think (hope!) that my flying is beginning to improve.

There's probably an entire thread's worth of discussion on this subject, but suffice to say that the 'fixed' tray and pinch-stick mode of operation makes for very accurate control input. The stick switches are also nice, enabling camber to be changed during aerobatics without taking your hands off the sticks. I've also assigned variable snap-flap and differential to the sliders, so that the model can be trimmed in flight and in accordance with the conditions of the day etc.

Of course, there's absolutely no need for an FX-40 to do this (it's pure bling), but I really wanted a well made tray-based console to practice EM and aerobatics, and soften out some of the less desireable aspects of my flying i.e. pulling turns too hard and flying too aggresively in light lift.

I think that if I had my time again, I would probably stick with a 12FG and add the CFK Robbe tray and long sticks - seems to be a very effective solution.....8FG looks great too!

Cheers
Greg

Yeah I've got the 'Tuturial'   :af

Ran out of paper printing it off tho  :''

Feefo  - - -  WHAT TUTORIAL ? ? ? ! ! !
I lurv the feel of my Cockpit Sx in my hands, but programming it is still an enormous pain between the buttocks.
Any additional help, apart from the the perennial shouts of RTFI, might finally help me break through the mists and clouds of the Mpx instruction book and flow diagrams into the sunshine of intuitive programming.

Can someone remind me what I came in here for.

I could be wrong, but I think he's talking about the Evo rather than the Cockpit. They are not all that similar from a programming perspective.

I have the Cockpit SX and a DX7i, and whilst the Spektrum is very good at what it does, the SX is childs play to programme by comparison and feels so much more comfortable to hold.

I have a turnigy 9x -  with a custom spray,  frsky telemetry mods, and er9x firmware.

Why?

- Because er9x is the best rc system I have ever used!
- and I have the pleasure of being on of the developers!

Sorry for the ridiculously late reply but PDR's right, it's for the EVO. Here if you want a look....http://webx.dk/rc/evo/Multiplex-Evo-Tutorial.pdf

Ok, this isn't funny, who's moved my sense of humour?

That's a very early version of the Tutorial (Revision B). If you want the most recent one (which I think is Revision J, and has much more in it) PM me an email address to send it to (I'm on the wrong computer at the moment - it's on the other one!).

Mines a Remcon 12  and a 1965 Gem S/C  :ev

The Hitec Optics have very flexible programming and lots of glider-related options, might be worth a look at the manual: http://www.modelflight.com.au/manuals/pdf/hitec/hitec_Optic_Manual.pdf
For example are some of the functions, theres crow, camber, el-flap etc:

The 2.4g Sport is very cheap, I saw them advertised at £99 for the tx/rx combo somewhere, might even have been on here.
Cheers
Phil
Edit:  found it, here: http://www.airtekhobbies.com/opticsport.html
