So, who's building (or planning to build) what this winter? After reading numerous recent threads, it appears that there are many kits lying around just waiting to be shown a little bit of glue, sweat, tears, and of course blood.

I'm keen to get a few build threads going if for no reason other than to serve as a source of motivation (aka a kick up the ar5e) but hopefully this thread will start the ball rolling for a few of us.

So, to kick off, I intend to will build the following over the next four months:
Corsair
C47
Concorde
B17
777

Yep I am a PSS geek and I need to get cracking!!  :af

What are you going to build?
 $%&

Red plane. White plane. Green plane. Blue plane. Yellow plane. Orange plane. I have lots of planes. I know that means you you admire me as I have more planes of greater value than you! I'm great.

I'm starting one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-82_Twin_Mustang soon, bought a cambrian funfighter, just need to buy some wood and get copying fus' parts. It's going to take a while I think. Also PSS.
Also need to get the centre section cut to match the wing roots supplied.
I will be modeling it on this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/akirkfoto/3811468765/#
About Easter I reckon ;D

And my DG300 may get finished too.

John.

Up until last night I only had my 1/4 scale Minimoa to do (started last october for that winters build..ahem) and finish off my recently resurrected and much missed Simprop Sagitta. But at the club committee meeting last week, it was decided we needed a new club trainer aka Middle Phase..and I offered to build it (as I seem to have an affinity for all things Chris Foss aeronautical, having built two MP's a P6 and now have a P5)..Our membership sec bought a Me 163 at last nights swap meet (electric or PSS), but was put off by the two part polycarbonate fuselage and the words came out of my mouth (which I can't recollect now) "You buy it Colin, I'll build it you"..and it was bought and thrust in my hands to bring home to build! Now, that might be a build log...It's going to be the red one.. ;D

I've complete fallen in love with my Salto. Not had it that long having purchasing it from a friend. On it's first flight I launched in unsuitable conditions and paid the price with a snapped fuz. I'm really pleased with the repair (if I do say so myself) and now throw her around at any opportunity. She's far more aerobatic than my ASW17 (which I also love - a great light wind flyer). It's a real shame Mr Teakle is not still making his kits as I would love to get my hands on an ASW22 or any of his other T-tail models.

May i suggest a visit to your local GP ASAP as you're clearly in need of a "check up from the neck up" if your considering selling such a beautiful model.

More to build than time allows but if the wind stays South Easterly then,
Refurbish a Wik Salto (anyone know where I could get a canopy) and an F15
Finish a Wanabee
Build
Jart EPP
Stingray
Breguet Fauvete from Mike Trew plan but with a thinner section
Simprop Saggita Project 2
And a Little Toni PSS for really strong winds
Will be pleased if I get half that finished!

Ooh. Very nice. Now Thats a proper machine.

Well if you had it long enough in the cupboard and you've no time, might as well move it on :)

Finishing the install on my asw now. Should be able to start on yours in a week or so.

My asw20 is nearing completion.

I have a couple of repairs to do...

Also:

Sunbird
Passer-X to finish
ASW-28 (iirc) to toughen up and kit out
Swinger (maybe)

The passer-x is a lightweight electric plane so that can wait for next spring as hopefully it'll be all wind through the winter.

Oh, hang on - it isn't 'fly it like you borrowed it, land it like you stole it', is it!

That's mighty purty...

But what will it fly like? Pretty small wings for a PSS...

Looking forward to seeing it go though, even if I have to go to the arse-end of the country to watch it ;)

I could try finishing this as my winter build

But then it has been my winter build for the last 5 or 6 years, I just can't seem to get interested in it any more.
It's a 1/4 scale ASK18 from a Cliff Charlesworth plan

Ive had a little buzz recently and dragged the vector3 out the loft. This is nearly complete now.So my list is

     1. Finish off vector3(2.4m)...S3150 all round..NO SAVOX
2.Finish off asw28-18(2.6m)..flyfly with flap conversion
2a.Finish off spraying the nose(was lekky hotliner, now solid p38) on Micro Floh(flown already with flap conversion)
3.Start a half built Teakle Vega(4m)..1/4 scale..(actually looking forward to this, reminiscing again..I remember them new in 1983 and always wanted on eversince)
4.Start from kit on a Teakle Dart 15(3m)  1/5 scale..should be quite aerobatic...
5.spare.... for the next swapmeet or shows!

PS....... builds 3 and 4 will  include future winters ..probably 5 or so!

No jimbo..you need to slow down in your builds.Maybe because Ive been doing this stuff for 32yrs I take my time and get my moneys worth out of the build. In my early years the build rate was like yours...but you soon get fed up of knocking out 3/4/5/6 planes a year(or run out of money) as they become less meaningfully the more you churn out.

My teakle builds will take years..on purpose..I like researching different ways to do stuff and can take a year just planning...this is also very enjoyable for me.My asw was bought 2yrs ago..the vector about 15months ago..floh about 3yrs ago..etc...I see differently now on everything. One thing I have noticed is that i feel the need to have a plane on the board/on the go all the time as i am constantly re planning/designing etc as i go as well as before.Even older models catch my eye an i bring them down from the loft for a re engineering/re servo/re design setup as I learn better ways of doing things.

One thing to remember, there is no right or wrong way(appart from dangerous stupid ways but I am assuming some intelligence here)..just different ways and we all have our own preferences during a build.

I have a developed a flap fetish now and all my old models are being reborn again with flaps...Jantar/micro floh/super dimona(RIP) ASW 28..and so on.Also I have noticed over the last few years I slow down quite a lot right near the end of the build as if I don't want it to finish and will only have to find something else to start. The last few hours left can take weeks to do!

Hope this helps your cause Jimbo..don't panic and rush anything ..look long term on everything and retire models to the loft rather than sell then as you can guarantee modeling developments will find a new /better/easier way to redesign them and its cheeper in the long run as not as many new  planes are needed this way and you are less likely to burn out.

I have seen many modellers start ,go hell for leather, only to give it up a couple of years down the line. Our hobby is for life, that's the beauty of it with so many different facets of it..again.....slow down and enjoy the journey... ......Chris.T

PS..mynd on monday..SE wind ashes hollow..10mph...will be lovley.

Hehe. With all this Carp weather and no time for flying, I'll be knocking em out double time!
I take your point. Once the winter bills start hitting the carpet, the budget will be curtailed, and I'll be working on reworks.
Come to think of it DR-Akro does need a conversion to crow :)

Heres a few picks of the vector3 build.Sorry about the blurred one...servo tray goes back a lot further and is 2.6mm grp board.S3150 on ele and rudder.the original pushrod goes straight to the clevis, the larger tube is a strengthener, epoxyed over the top to minimise flex...belt and braces.

lead shot poured into the nose and the battery is "potted" in epoxy and lead shot..5 ounces of which fills half way down the battery under the tray.this is for a 110mm cg.snip the cable tie and the batt pops out.

custom made pack by myself out of AA eneloops.horn on elevator gives 12mm up and down..plenty i think at cg 110mm.custom grp horn on rudder to allow 30mm travel each way(no pic)Oh yes and new belcrank fitted as old one stuck.

pics attached..chrisT

The Hunter needs to be converted Roger. She would love Staggie.  :uk:

As for Concorde, she's a "Bristol models" kit. I know nothing about her history other than what it says on the box and in the diagrams. Any info would therefore be greatly appreciated.

Pretty sure its a Unique/Skyways one will see Mike Lovell in the week if he didnt design it, he will know who did!
I remember seeing the prototype fly at Whitchurch airfield when I was about 10, had two OS25 powering it then.
Does it have an address on the box/ diagram for Sea Mills, Hartcliffe or Bedminster?
