OK, since this was mentioned in the 'seeking a high wind wing' thread, I thought I'd avoid taking that off topic (for a change ;) ) and start a new thread.

So.. glider pr0n. What floats your boat?

I really like the look of the naked carbon fibre on the Erwin XL...

Oh, hang on - it isn't 'fly it like you borrowed it, land it like you stole it', is it!
So that's where I've been going wrong...

I had one of these. I really enjoyed it. I sold because I am a massive tit. Oh, actually, no, I sold it to finance purchasing a RaceM Ultimate. Which I sold because I'm a massive tit! Geoff C - you have the best of my old hangar!! Big Ceres included!

It's that very rare thing amongst 3m models - something which has somehow managed to set itself completely aside from the competition arena, and as such you can just appreciate it for what it does really well, without pressuring it to be a racer. As such, it's a fantastically rewarding model to own and fly. Very benign too - you can just take the mickey bigtime and it doesn't seem to want to punish you for it. But it's still exciting. Great blend I think.

However, for ultimate performance, there are certainly 3m models which will give you more performance, and even ones that will give you more performance for less money. But Erwin's have always had that something special which has nothing to do with any of that, for me anyway.

Me too, but it would be good if people could start looking up and including some pics of their favourites!

Text only pr0n is OK, but a few good pictures work better  :co :''

Oh ok glider pron in general... I always fancied the Taborca from LET models. Actually now have a radio which could probably handle it.

Other than that, my impending D130... and I have to say that the soon-to-arrive Crossover in nekkid spread tow will be pretty horn-inducing.

Closest thing for me in my short 9 months sloping addiction has been when i swopped the sticks on my M60 and flew this beautiful 5m Pilatus B4 on Rhossili on a early summers day.

Oh no - such good prices as well :(

There is no way that you are a "massive tit" Rick, but you did give me the opportunity to own two of my favorite ships. That said, I am excited about my new addition to the fleet, a Rotmilan, which is due to arrive in the next couple of days.

I don't think there is another genre of aircraft that does it for me.

How do you compete with this?

Even at full scale the ASW's, Discus, Salto's, Fox's  are just awesome...

What I'm saying is that the full scale version is more impressive than a model.  I don't really understand the fascination with scale gliders - If I was that bothered about an asw or whatever, I would rather go and look at a real one.  It would probably be cheaper to learn to fly one than flying RC gliders as well! Each to his own though.

Jim - there's a gliding club down the road from edge hill - with real ones.

Yes I know. Would be worth a go for sure and you can buy them cheaper than one of the 1/3 scale mouldies propbably

I partly know what you are saying, I think scale gliders come into their own on big hills.

Burton or edge are a waste of space. But once you see and fly a big glider on a big hill, youd be hooked too. Next time i fly the vortex (or asw), it will at rhossili, i cant wait for that.

That reminds me i need to fly my nyx mouldie :(

I have seen big gliders fly on big hills - with real gliders above them.  I have flown all over the country on all kinds of different slopes (as have many people on here).  No offence, but you have probably flown 4 or 5 different sites.  I gets my goat a bit when you start making comments like that to be honest. The guys who have been flying for decades have often flown in literally hundreds of places.

Edge Hill is a good slope when the wind is in the right direction. The ridge is actually quite long and it generates some good thermals on the flat land below.  If it weren't for the precarious landing it would be a good place to fly.  It was when you could land in the field.  Yean it's not Rhossili but on average it's certainly not a bad slope.

I would buy a big glider if I had a big hill to fly it on, but I don't so I stick to a certain size. And to be honest once they get past a certain size it's just a load of hassle transporting them and getting them to the hill side.  Never mind finding the workshop space to get them flying in the first place.

I wouldn't mind doing some aerotowing though.

Tom I agree. There is nowhere suitable near us to fly a big models. That's pretty unfortunate for us.

I Had the afternoon at dassett. Yep you guessed, it was rubbish, speedo would just about fly, gv60 was struggling. No flight for the  nyx. Have a vid of mikes typhoon later being fetched from bottom of slope.

I like that last v tail. Nice looker.

Quite spectacularly priced as well, is the Hurricane! But very beautiful.

There is so much out there to tempt one. Once I fly the couple I have in build/ on order right now, I think it'll be time for another "hangar justification" session for me. I seem to have gotten into a situation once again where I've got far too many 3m models. Four of them at the last count.

I knew this subject was one I should have steered clear of. I've just been on sloperacers site and there was this...

I love the fuz shape ...

In fact I'm going to have to follow this one up, but the price isn't bad either. They offer this at £250.

Mind you you can see that the exchange rate with the euro is very favourable to buying nice models at the moment. fvk.de has some nice offers.

I have to get a Blaster first but I could see this being second.

Of course if I win the Euro lottery tonight  :ev

If money were no object what would you buy?

Plus one for scalies and PSS models.  :af

I think that's what makes this thread so cool - diversity. It's not a case of who's right or wrong it's whatever floats your boat so, for me as I have no interest in "winged knitting needles" , slope pr0n looks like this . . . .

Red plane. White plane. Green plane. Blue plane. Yellow plane. Orange plane. I have lots of planes. I know that means you you admire me as I have more planes of greater value than you! I'm great.

I love the Phantom.

The Salto not only looks good in the pics but having seen you fly it, looks even better in the air (the local wildlife not necessarily agreeing)

I also thought the Victor looked good

Thanks for the compliment but I can't take credit for the Salto model. I found the picture on the internet and It's far more attractice than my attempt.
