Hi Folks,

I picked up the above model a few weeks ago and have spent all of 2 hrs putting it together, it's a nice little thing but I need to buy some 3s lipos for it, 1800mah-2100mah I suppose.

Because of the battery compartment I understand I need the 'square' pack, anyone got a link? I just want to get 2 or 3 cheapo's to get it up and away.

Does anyone already have one of these? What packs are you using?? I have read normal shape can be made to fit $%&

Lol. I know youd want piccys ;D ;D

Few piccys here, this little thing is gonna be fun.

I changed a few things though :ev

HS81 has replaced the retract servo supplied. The stock one didn't like the servo slow function on my TX. HS81 does though, now I have a nice slow retraction :''
I also changed the horn on the flap servo, now I can get more movement - see piccys.
The oleo's are sprung as standard! Ace!

Hi Mat,

I have got one of these foamy FW 190s too. :)
Mine flies with a 1800 Mah pack but a larger pack will fit with a bit of persuasion.
They are cute little aeroplanes and they fly very well. :af

Is that the one that "lost" a wing at Tibenham (or was it Barkston) whilst playing with the big boys? :''

Yup, that's the one. One of the big boys tried to eat it...
The trim was a bit "interesting" with half a wing missing :D but it got down without wrecking itself.
It now has a new wing. :)

Was the pilot flying it with FPV or was it purely a passenger?

Great vid, I'd love a passenger set up in a model.

I have had one from when they first came out - awaiting e digging in my pocket for new lhs oleos... check for binding when closing the retracts - had to fettle little away to stop the servo from binding due to not closing,

battery fitment - std 3 cell overlanders-turnigys etc....look at front of plane....fit battery at an angle left to tight with thicker wall of lenght running front to back, and ensure that the motor rear does not foul the battery, I added small thing ply plate there, when you get yours you will understand what I mean. if running off rough grass keep an eye on the collets, they have a tendancy to fly off upon landing, well mine did at winterton when I popped over and quite a funny sight with wheel been in front of plane on landing.

They do handle wind very well, mix in some up elevator with flaps and you will have a great slow flying plane.

ripmax do a good replacement 3 blader, as these do have a tendancy to nose over on long grass...uneven ground, more suited to tarmac really

enjoy

That looks really nice, I have been thinking of buying an electric myself and fancied a PARKZONE F4F Wildcat which from the youtube vids appears to fly rather nice. Also I can goto almost any park and fly it :D

:o that's a whole lot of toy for your £ compared to the PARKZONE F4F Wildcat I was looking at for £99 needing battery and RX. Perhaps I should rethink but dont want to be jumping on any band waggon type thing though if you see what I mean :-\

I know :o but............. at least I can get some flying in somewhere, I have not renewed my Seething membership I cant face going there after watching on Wednesdays and Sundays what's going on via webcam. I was almost sold on the Parkzone jobbie but after seeing what Mat has bought for not that much more it looks a far better aircraft. I have watched a few youtube vids of the ST FW and it looks like it flies really well :D

I think this is also known as a Flyzone FW190, pretty good review only thing letting it down slightly (3.5 out of 5) was the retracts on a X wind landing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Dw5vA0A84

Have you got yourself a pilot Mat it needs one :af I have not seen a mention of altering the flap horn to get more movement, was it far off out of the box?

I found a double arm horn in my box of spares that fitted the stock servos, I can now get maximum flap movement. it's given me approx another 25% movement.
Some have problems with the retracts and some have no trouble from what I've read, it just needs to be landed gently.
I found a pilot from Galaxy, one of the FMS ones cut off at the knee, you need to look for a 1/9th scale, HK do a nicer one, Mig 15 pilot but looks OK and fits well too.

I see ref horn I thought you had changed the ones on the actual flaps not the servo ;)

Gentle landings............. there begins the problem ;D

That HK pilot is very nice, the canopy is held on with double sided tape isn't it? Wont be able to retro fit a pilot once it's on I guess.

I have never charged a LiPo........... I'm afaired of the things but better get used to it quick :embarassed:

Really really well, I upgraded the undercrackers to electric retract and she flies like a dream, even handles the wind quite well.

I'm all for this bandwagon! they all fly well and not having a big workshop anymore means I can put them together quickly and be flying in my local park even quicker!

Got a Stryker on standard setup too, that will be fun in the mayhem slots if I come to any fly-ins this year!!

I cant comment at all on these LiPo things I know nothing about them what so ever :embarassed: Only thing I can do is put pictures of both the GC and Ebay ones together for comparison if their pictures actually reperesent the batteries. the Ebay one is the same spec I think.

Aha, just noticed it gives an approximate size of the Ebay one which is: 70mm x 40mm x 20mm and is the 1.1V 2200MAH 25C (none of which means much to me).

The GC one is: 105 x 34 x 27mm

Just mocked up in balsa a 70mm x 40mm x 20mm box the same size as the Ebay LiPo and it falls in the fuselage no problem so I've ordered just 1 to see how it goes.
