I speed read this. So apoligies if I'm stating something thats been posted.

I met a SWM customer that had one. He'd had some issues with the UC on grass ( since then I've spoke to a few more modellers that said the same) and I know two of them used the Overlander Sport Pack 2200 3S with good results. It's available almost everywhere.

I must admit when I looked at one I thought they were terrific value. It's a Ripmax product and if it had a Futaba Compat Rx it would be a winner against that other well known Foamie range.

It is better detail, but more fragile than EPO.

As for the UC fragile, it's at a price where I wouldnt worry too much. I was wondering if the E.P E Flite 10/15 size retracts could be grafted on? Might be worth doing on the airframe as its as cheap as chips.

Cheers

Steve

Have you flown it yet Mat?  I'm thinking about getting my airbrush out and making mine mega dirty using artists acrylics whilst I'm waiting for my battery to turn up from Hong Kong.

Yes, I flew it on Saturday. It's a nice bit of fun, handles a breeze well, lands slow with full flap (but will balloon with the flaps and no mix), looks good in the air and on the ground!
I set my ele so it was level with the 'inner bit' of the trailing edge, this is too high and needs to be set so the top of the ele's are level with the botton of the middle section.
I hope that makes sense!

I got my battery in the post it had no terminals on the end so I soldered them on charged it up and it seems fine.  Prop adapter is out of true though and there is a slight vibration from spinner and prop, I just checked my box of "stuff" and it looks like I gave away all my electric bits so will have to buy another it's not worth the drive back to the model shop to get a replacement under guarantee.  Weather has not been good enough to fly so I have not put the RX in it yet but the battery seems good for £6 delivered :)

I can see this lasting me 5 minutes, not because of damaging flying but handling it it's very delicate and I'm ham fisted  :embarassed:

Just had my 1st flight  :D  Needed a lot of down elevator and almost all of it for inverted flight.  I dont know how long the flight was on my El' Cheapo battery but it seemed long enough.  Canopy blew off 1/2 way through the flight but it made no difference, landing was slow and flat but the ground was rough 1 wheel dug in and it did a slow cartwheel with no damage to anything.

I like it although it did seem to waggle it's tail in the air looking a bit unstable but all in all a good investment.

BTW I just recharged my £6 LiPo it took 43 minutes it's upto 12.44V and took 1442 mA (I think that's what it means) is that good?  When I landed I had to land it rapidly dropped in power so I immediately dropped it's legs and brought it in.

How many mah is the battery rated at? I think you are supposed to use 80 percent max. I use a 2200mah pack and put about 1600mah back in, the esc didn't cut or motor die in flight at that for me.

It's a 3s 2200mah.  I dont know when I will get to fly it again, it's nice but not really enough wings  ::)

I really fancy a ParkZone R.A.F SE5a now  :banghead:  I believe they do a version needing your own battery and RX for about £102

It sound as though it flies like my ST Models discovery which as a learner is a real pain because when my instructor or other club members at the field get their hands on it my training goes out the window as they start having fun with it.

Slight cafuffles have broken out from people offering to take me up for a lesson.

Yours looks and sound great and would love one when I can get trained enough if I can get my hands on the sticks.

Regards

Nigel.

Really really well, I upgraded the undercrackers to electric retract and she flies like a dream, even handles the wind quite well.

I'm all for this bandwagon! they all fly well and not having a big workshop anymore means I can put them together quickly and be flying in my local park even quicker!

Got a Stryker on standard setup too, that will be fun in the mayhem slots if I come to any fly-ins this year!!

Steve

Steve - I have repaired the struts on mine once and in the ripmax parts for the retraacts shows no struts what part set did you use please and any chance of some photos of yours - missing flying this around on quiet days..

many thanks

John

Just flown mine for the 2nd time but the ground was a bit rough being a football pitch and I broke a leg on landing  :'(  Looks like they are glued in so even if I could get a new one I doubt I could fit it without butchering so I guess I will be wheels up from now on  :-\

I think I can glue mine back together but doubt it will last that long only trouble is I lost the coil spring for the oleo which is a tiny diameter I doubt I will be able to find something similar :(
I think from now on I will take off from the wheels and belly land it due to the rough ground.

Norfolk, thats a sensible way round the FWs weak U/C.I'm running a pair of Hobby king electronic units with some success.BTW the Parkzone SE5A is a peach,i swapped the standard 10X8 for a 10X6 for longer flights .Al.
