When I started flying helicopters about 4 years ago this forum was alive and buzzing with heli chat. I learned alot from this forum.
Is it a sign of the recession that this forum has gone so quiet? It's a real shame to not find some one asking some thing on here any more.
Maybe we are all hibernating for the winter.
Happy flying when the weather picks up  :af

I'm trying not to hibernate.  But it's not always easy!  I would have flown this afternoon,  but nobody else turned up - it was a little blustery though, so I can hardly blame them.  I was flying last weekend though.

Remember, up is up, and down is down.  Except when inverted - when down is up, and up can be very expensive

No, I'm flying regularly.  Two of my Redline 53 powered Sceadu 50's are seeing regular use.

I fly in a more restrained style in the winter, cold thumbs and all that, but I get out.

I also fly up to 500's indoors (the venue sometimes sees 700's fly indoors!!).

Should be building more actually, with a Dragonfly, Wessex and Lynx in 450's , an Agusta A109 in 30 size, and a Eurocopter Twin Squirrel in 90 size all at various stages from 0% to 80%................

Not hibernating, but having 9 month old twins seems to cut down on flying opportunities.

Still got 2 knight 50's, Trex 600, 500 and 450 in the garage, plus a load of planes.
To be fair the planes are getting out more than the heli's but it seems to ebb and flow.

Another vote for not hibernating.

Built my trex 600 clone in November, really enjoying it through December, but iam having issues just as you do with any new model.

On applying the stater it slips somehow. Have replaced clutch with the one way bearing which I hope will sort it. The new asp52 engine lacks top end grunt st the moment. My next session eil be spent tuning for the first flight.

I got my a-cert last year, intend to use the 600 to practice for my b cert, interspersed between trying some aeros (loops n rolls to start off with).

The heli flying is what gets me fired up at the moment and have already clocked that the weather for Saturday looks promising. Can't wait!

So no, definitely not hibernating!
Cheerio,
Rob.

No hibernation here either.
However something that has not gone unnoticed in this area. In the last 12 months or so the number of heli drivers have crasher through the floor  :''  (sorry for the pun).
In my own case I have returned to sloping after a 25 year hiatus, everyone of the guy's I used to fly with have all gone off to do other things. Golf, fishing etc.
maybe its a disposable income thing  $%&

Maybe everyones out flying with no time to sit on forums :''

Doubtful, but hey ho..
Weather hasnt been bad enough to stop me flying ,but not good enough to get me out flying more than about once a week.Have really enjoyed flying my mcpx at work, but must really be honest and say it was a real pleasure to fly a 50 after a bit of a break.Have always battled a bit with the sun at this time of year, got myself a pair of decent modelling orientated sunglasses and am well pleased with the results.Should have done that a couple of years ago....

Guilty as charged, I was here constantly, flying every week and living and breathing RC but then a saturday afternoons spent flying messed up doing anything as a family, I started feeling guilty and moved in electric that I could do closer to home on the way to work or indoors and then I got back into photography and I've barely touched a model in the last 3 years. It seems that I can fit photography into my life much easier with early mornings and late evenings and when on holiday without it interfering with family life too much. I'm sure I will return to be a more active modeller in the future but whereas I used to look out of the window on a nice day and wish I were out flying I now want to be out capturing images instead...

I have a break from flying a few years ago and came back to it.
You were my main source of info when I started flying helicopters and I thank you for all the help you gave me.
Good to see you pop back in here occasionally.
