I had 3 645's and two failed. One died on the bench before getting in the model and was replaced but the replacement started having serious centering problems after about 10 flights. I threw the 3rd one away. Replaced them with Futaba and flew the model for a year before selling.

I have the 645's in my 1/3 Pup, they have plenty of gunt for what I need centering is good and they are very smooth.  I feel they are perfect for the ailerons on the Pup I don't want fast moving aerobatic type things in there.  They are quite slow in comparison to the usual cheapies I use in my other toys which are TowerPro 5010's or TowerPro MG-996r.  The TP are a real budget servo and are far from smooth fine for sport knock about stuff only.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man the toys just got bigger

Excellent timing.

I am about to invest in some, but which one.

I have a fair few 645's and have had two fail. One started wandering around centre with the engine (Zenoah 38) running and one just stopped.

Both instances happened on the ground.

A friend of mine who'm I consider a bit of a guru in such matters swears by the Savox 0252 in place of the 645's and for the sake of 2 quid a servo, I am probably going to give em a go.

Just my 2ps worth

As they are going in a jet vibration isnt a problem. Are they inferior to jr and futaba?

I don't think so personally. In fact I think both makes are better that JR or Futaba.

I'd agree with Savox being of equal quality or better but not Hitec. I won't touch Hitec after my above incident and I only tried them after arm bending from mates as I had experienced problems with Hitec 10 years ago. Even my club mates admit the centering on Hitec isn't as good as other brands. On something that has the potiental to go moderately quick such as a jet I would think accuracy would be key. I have never seen a competition heli flyer use Hitec, I have seen them use Futaba, JR & Savox. Those guys really test servos in accuracy and durability imo  :af

The 0251 is a bit heavier, but very much more powerful. Case is a bit deeper. Similar price to the 0252.

Got 4 in the 50cc Yak. The rudder on the 55M is huge though and I have a 30Kg Savox jobular on that.

I have a good few Hitec 645, I know I'm going to regret saying this but I've never had one fail. A good few others I know have the same wthout issue too. I have some Savox 1256, again, never had an issue.

I have never had a 645 fail either, so this has become my servo of choice. With Futaba 3001's used for throttle/choke. Also a very reliable servo in my experience.
Actually the 645 is highly regarded by many people from what I read on several RC forums.
Can't comment on the Savox servo, as I don"t know anyone using them.

Best Regards

Likewise, I have a number of 645's and not one single issue, ever.  I don't doubt those who say they have problems but it does interest me why it would be that when someone has a problem with them, they seem to have several fail, not just the occasional failure - which you could reasonably expect with any electro-mechanical device - it seems to be they all work for many people and they all fail for many people, just a weird statistic?

I purchased six turnigy MG958 Composite Digital Metal Gear Servos specs are  15kg / 65g / 0.2sec.Savox and align use different versions of this servo but are basically the same just the type of gears are different.Savox use titanium gears .I have had one on test inside my madness fitted to the rudder .This servo centres well and is very fast and powerful so far the test servo has been 100% reliable I have now gone ahead and fitted the servos into my hanger 9 pulse xt 125.For the money it is worth buying just one to try this servo out.

Time to own up.

I bought 645's.

Why  $%& $%& $%&

Thinking back to my previous post. Of the two tat had gone wrong, one was in a model that I bought so I had no history and the other to go wrong was possibly my fault as it wasn't set up properly and binding for a while until I sorted it.

Soooooo, not needing, or wanting digital's, I stuck with what I knew.

Thanks for all the comments but I'm no closer to deciding what to use! I even thought about taking some futaba 9402's out of my 30% cap but they have had a hard life with all that vibration from the zenoah!
