Is this the place?
Was wondering how much interest there is out there, and where.

I am hoping to get something to tug over the next couple of weeks as part of a deal.

I've always been partial to a tug and have also just bought a couple of scale gliders so I can have a go at Aerotowing :)

I maidened my latest tug at the weekend superb flyer powered by a DLE 55 its a SD Greenley by John Greenfield.

After the maiden though I would give it a challenge and towed up an Easyglider that we usually put behind a Parkmaster, no problem at all :''

Currently building the SDD Greenley for a DLE 110 should just about tow anything out there :af including my Skylark shown below

These are my new models for giving aerotowing a go. The first is an Airworld fox, although i'm just in the middle of stripping off the scheme and putting a new one one. The second is a Graupner Swift S1 which i've also treated to a new scheme..

Love the Swift.

Ant the Skylark is from a plan by Chris Williams and is 3.5:1. Wingspan just over 5 meters

The SD Greenley won't have any problems hauling your skylark up.......no need for the SDD (we tow up to 1/2 scalers with the SDD) I seem to remember hauling Chris Williams' up behind my Colin Bond zen62 powered Wilga.

Another tugger here BTW, usually messing around with 1/3-1/2 scalers though!

I know it won't have a problem it really managed the Easyglider well so the Skylark will be no problem :nananana:

I built the SD as a winter hack that would fit in the back of the car rather than having to take out our trailer every time.  The SDD will be our principal tug in the summer taking over from the Megawot we towed the Skyark with last year

I bought a s/hand Wilga 2000 last year with a DLE111 in it.
Flown it a few times but no towing yet.

The plan is to use it to try out a 240cc 4-stroke petrol  :ev

Multiplex Funcup as towplane  :af
Very Cheap towplane
The biggest glider I towed was a 3,6 meter Nimbus. :)
And with gliders up to 600 gram it goes almost vertical.  ;D
I have tryed different motors, but I now use this Motor setup:
Turnigy 4250 1000kv

4 cell 4000 Mha, 40 C battery
100 A ESC
13x4 prop
Works great...

The tug isn't going to last too long if it takes off before the gliders each flight.

Keep the tug on the floor until the gliders are at flying speed.

Yes your right,  :) With bigger towplanes.
This Funcup has more than 150 good towings.
The big motors prop blast around the wing + the high tow hook over the motor centerline give enough lift to get it airborne after 1 meter, even with big gliders.
I have all wing aileron that give good control even when it take off after just 1 meter.
It just like hovering a 3 D plane  ;D
But if you cant hover a plane, then your absolutly right  :af
