Has anyone got any experimental of this servos?

http://robotbirds.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=85_71_157&products_id=3328

I have purchased 3 for a small freestyle model but have a problem with 2 of them. On the bench they seemed very good and I thought I had made a good choice. However in the model 2 of them often oscillate around the centre until I either move the stick or very lightly touch the control surface  ???

I'm trying to work out if I should return and ask for another two of these or see if I can find an equivalent in another make. I'm very picky about servos and I chose these as they got good reviews for accuracy and I have to admit when on the bench they are very smooth. I cannot use anything bigger or heavier  $%&

No experience with planes but I know of a few people on a Rotary wing forum that have used them on small (250size helis) and found them ok.

Don't think about it, get on with it!!

That is one of the reasons I chose them. The comments were claiming that they were very good in helicopters and seeing as helis need accurate servos I thought they would be good  :'(

I'm going to give robotbirds a call on monday and see if they can recomend a suitable servo.

One of the things I have learned on the dark side is that Esky, Walkera and some of the other mainstream brands are cr4p; mainly down to electrical reliability (lack of it) but no real criticism of servos, mainly motors & esc's - from personal experience with a Century UK Evo 180 se heli the only criticism I had with it was how easy it was to break certain parts but in retrospect they were like a fuse, cheap to replace parts that prevented more expensive damage!
Getting back to the servos - you may have a couple of duff ones, as you already found out they are being used ona few helis for cyclic control which means they're not bad - any doubts, don't use them you don't want any loss of confidence in their abilities!!

Don't think about it, get on with it!!

My mileage is the opposite from Darwils
I have about a dozen of these little little servos in the fleet, mounted in EDF's and gliders. I have had issues with 2 that I bought. On both occasions to turned out to be due to the cable being pulled hard round a corner as it exits the servo case. I have been more careful since and have had no further problems. The 2 failure were both repaired by re soldering the wires onto the servo and have given good service since.

On 4 the ESKY helis that I have owned at different times failures have been entirely due to me driving the models into the scenery (multiple times on my HBFP and Belt CP! :'') and nothing to do with manufacturing quality control.  :embarassed:

I've been using the Blue Arrow 8g digital ( http://alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock.php?pc=37215 ) and have been very pleased with them - about 6 so far all good.  Just put one in a light weight crack yak with 2 4.3g (blue arrow as well) on R+E not sure how long the 4.3s will last but the 8 on the Ale is perfect.

Great spec, I'm guessing you are happy with the accuracy and centering. I'm going to call Robotbirds in the week as I bought the ESky's from there but these look like a good option if RB can't find an alternative  :af

I have some of these servos in indoor EPP shockies and they also oscillate. The mass of the control surfaces seems to make the servo's feedback loop unstable. Having said that, as soon as the model is flying with airflow over the surfaces the oscillation stops so I have left them in place.
