Hi All

Seen someone making wing bags from I think, laminate floor underlay.

It was silver covered top and bottom, with a foam middle.

Anyone know what it is called and a supplier.

Thanks.

Hi box55555,
A few of us use the Wickes underlay http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/191372  really good stuff.

John.

Ive looked at that before - but this is the trouble with buying or researching online - you have no idea really what you are looking at. How wide are the "panels"?

If you mean between the folds they are about 8"/20cm folds, if you want to lose them unravel the whole thing rolling it into a tube as you go and leave for a couple of days.
I was trying to find the thread where I think Adam Richardson showed an excellent way of making them with a specially made knife which only cut through the silver foil. You can then peel it back which seems to leave enough glue on it to be able to fold it over and stick it to itself. The pictures spoke a thousand words ;D

what about loft insulation

I've made a few wing bags from this material.  I buy mine (Thermawrap?) in Homebase - you need the tape to go with it as it sticks well, and then I back that up with silver duct tape to add tear strength.  Leave a flap to fold over at one end and secure that with a strip of stick-on Velcro.  They cost about £10 a pair, but work very well.

Wot4, Wots Wot, Airsail Chipmunk, JU87, Glen's CAP, OV10 Bronco (sold!), Piper Pawnee (crashed!), Auster AOP9, Beech D18 (still to maiden!), Partenavia P-68 (another one still to maiden)

I make all my wing bags from the stuff... I actually staple the edges before I apply the tape to make the joints last a little longer.

I have used the silver insulation from Wicks with good effect.

However on my latest set Inhae used two yoga mats from Decathalon £3 each and fastened them together with Gorilla duct tape worked really well

I've been making my own wing and fuselage bags for years from bubble wrap. I usually buy a big roll from somewhere like B&Q.

Wow, that's very cheap on eBay - £4.99 for 30m sq,  :o When I priced the stuff in B&Q it was about 10x that price. I wonder of they would honour that price on a buy-it-now...... :''

when you try to purchase it then goes to around £140.00.

the price is for a roll of tape.  very clever ploy. a real swizz.
