Well I could be barking up the wrong tree, but do you want to fly the heli or have a flight director on board doing it for you? I might be flying my heli badly, but I'm flying it and get immense satisfaction from that. With the 3GX system I gather you just tell the FD to "go oevr there" and it does, then release the sticks, and the heli hovers. Might as well watch someone else fly  $%&
Or have I got it all wrong?

3gx certainly is not an autopilot. if you tell it 'to go over there' it will but it wont hover the machine. all a flybarless system does is replace the head stabilising effect of the flybar by using gyros instead. if you want it to 'self hover' you need something like a helicommand. my opinion of FBL systems is that the head (and the rest of the machine) responds much better. fast in control movement, and more precise as all the servo power is directed straight to the blades. took a bit of getting used to but overall a better system.

i must add that my opinion is based on 600 & 700 machines only, might be different on smaller helis

until the RCMF Fly In!!

Thanks Nick your responce is about the same as I got from someone at work and as I have now brought one I will find out for my Self  ;D But my others will be staying with a flybar just maybe lighter carbon paddles once I have started flying the 450.
