I rest my case.

Message to Wiz, a perfect example of why I (and I am sure many others) rarely post on this forum, in future I will leave it to others to join in the 'merry banter'

BobT, I do have the ability to retain information so please do not PERCEIVE that I had not spotted your comment.

Oh, the irony. ::)

There's a saying about how if you don't vote, you get the Government you deserve.

If you don't join in, then what makes you think the forum will go in the direction you want it to?
I used to join in. It didn't go in the direction I liked. I stopped joining in. You can only fight against the tide for so long before you drown.

And perhaps none of the comments in this thread are bad tempered. So that will be just my faulty "perception" then. As I'm obviously not bright enough to understand what I read well enough to reply to it properly I will be doing you all a favour if in future I keep quiet. Consider it done.

There is no need for the sarcasm. As to bad-tempered postings - well if you regard some of them in that light your threshold of what is bad-tempered is far removed from mine. Could you indicate those - are at least some of them - that you regard in that light as I would be interested to see where we differ.

This thread is very ironic, it is the very essence of a typical RCMF thread with the same contributors.

No one thinks they are doing anything wrong yet they are just adding to the pit of 'same old, same old bickering threads'. There is nothing particularly offensive or threatening but it is extremely tiresome.

This is the reason I re-registered to try and gain some anonymity but in a little pond even the smallest fish are going to get spotted.

I feel it is time to go back to the sea....

I shall leave you guys to it, good luck Wiz.

Well said Tom,  what is going on here is just reinforcing our need to tidy things up and get this place back on track.

One thing that I have noticed - if you look at the new members section, very few of the new people get more than a handful of welcomes, if that. I used to make it a point to always say 'hello' to new members, but have got out of the habit for some reason over the last year or more - must go back to it.

Our "Doorman" Owen is not helping by being on holiday as well, maybe we should have words with him on his return.   ;)

Seriously though, I agree the welcomes have dropped in number and we should make a better effort as first impression certainly counts a lot Mike.

I agree, Tony - and thinking more about it, I think that in future I will try to do more than just say 'welcome aboard' or whatever.

You could try, "I am your friend..." Mike.  ;)

Seriously though, I used to greet every new member, but there was only me and a couple of others and, at one time, there was a flood of new members and it became overwhelming.

I must try harder.  :xx

Aha, nice one Gerry - w e l c o m e t o t h e a s y l u m   now becomes I am your friend.  :uk:

Imust admit that I used to use a greeting like that. Reviewing this thread that perhaps isn't the best f ideas.

I need to do that more too - there always seems to be something more important to do but thinking about it, I really should make more of an effort.  I guess also I leave it too much to our doorman and I'm not even sure someone saying "I am your friend" is a good thing either, it would make me think twice about sticking around, I must say lol

I wonder if Owen would like proper job, create a group for him called "meeter & greeter" and give him a bit of training, could work?

....but I think that the more of us that can make the time for a "welcome" the better.  I certainly will from now on.  I might even write something on "How to get the best out of the forum" to post for them?

OK I think this thread has run it's course, or is it curse!

I'm going to lock it for now. Actions are being taken behind the scenes so play nicely and you won't be moderated  :nananana:
