I rest my case.Message to Wiz, a perfect example of why I (and I am sure many others) rarely post on this forum, in future I will leave it to others to join in the 'merry banter' BobT, I do have the ability to retain information so please do not PERCEIVE that I had not spotted your comment.
There's a saying about how if you don't vote, you get the Government you deserve. If you don't join in, then what makes you think the forum will go in the direction you want it to?
I used to join in. It didn't go in the direction I liked. I stopped joining in. You can only fight against the tide for so long before you drown. And perhaps none of the comments in this thread are bad tempered. So that will be just my faulty "perception" then. As I'm obviously not bright enough to understand what I read well enough to reply to it properly I will be doing you all a favour if in future I keep quiet. Consider it done.Steve
Come on guys. Chill! No need to throw your teddies in the corner because someone doesn't agree with your point of view.Banter is what used to make this place great.Disclaimer: this thread is not aimed at any one individual.Tom
One thing that I have noticed - if you look at the new members section, very few of the new people get more than a handful of welcomes, if that. I used to make it a point to always say 'hello' to new members, but have got out of the habit for some reason over the last year or more - must go back to it.Mike
Our "Doorman" Owen is not helping by being on holiday as well, maybe we should have words with him on his return. Seriously though, I agree the welcomes have dropped in number and we should make a better effort as first impression certainly counts a lot Mike.
I agree, Tony - and thinking more about it, I think that in future I will try to do more than just say 'welcome aboard' or whatever.Mike
You could try, "I am your friend..." Mike. Seriously though, I used to greet every new member, but there was only me and a couple of others and, at one time, there was a flood of new members and it became overwhelming.I must try harder. Aha, nice one Gerry - w e l c o m e t o t h e a s y l u m now becomes I am your friend.
....but I think that the more of us that can make the time for a "welcome" the better. I certainly will from now on. I might even write something on "How to get the best out of the forum" to post for them?
You already greet every single new member Nigel. its sent out automatically on registration.Gerry
