Came across a picture of a PR Mk 1G Spitfire this morning.  (Actual photo)

The pink colouration was well known to me, but I was surprised by the upper wing roundels, which were smaller than usual for the type (especially for 1941) and INBOARD  fairly close to the canopy each side. There is evidence that this livery style continued into at least 1942.

I will start searching but anyone KNOW why they were so positioned?

Also, it had no radio mast.  I know the 1G's had extra fuel behind the pilot and of course that is where the oblique camera was mounted, looking out left side, but any info on radio carried or not would be of interest.

If you mean the picture, it was on a copyrighted site that would not allow linking.  A poor copy exists on pinterest.

WEIRD! I thought that I had seen most Spitfire (and other FC for that matter) camos, but those roundels really throw me. Not only the odd position, but it's the only time as far as I can remember) that I have seen ANY RAF a/c, regardless of type or Command, from 1941 with type A roundels on the upper wing surfaces.
