Don't know about the M23, but the roadworks on the eastbound M2, M20 and M26 are part of the preparations to reduce the net cost of Brexit.

They're installing pay & display parking ticket machines...

Behind the times. It's ANPR cameras and you have to log on to the Motorway Parking Services website in order to pay (within 24 hours) or pay a fixed penalty of one arm and a leg.

Had no practical other option today, so return trip over the M23 "Works" length.  Wife spotted for work actually taking place.

At one place ONLY there were two men looking at the grass edge off the closed hard shoulder/ part nearside lane.  For this, ten miles each way is disrupted.

They must have had calls, as new illuminated signs both ends were stating " Verge Survey Taking Place in Day Time".

20 miles of "verge", two men.

Great.......................................

I have super quality dashcam footage of a Minibus with Taxi plates undertaking the car in front approaching the Gatwick turn off, violently swerving across two lanes to the outside through a gap not much longer than it, overtaking, and swerving back to the nearside now clearly exit only marked lane. And NO, after that it didn't exit, after undertaking two more cars it swerved out and continued towards Brighton. Hopefully others may be interested, inc the council that licensed him (and so gave him credibility).

The dashcam company Nextbase have put together this website where you can send incriminating dashcam footage directly to the Police authority concerned.
Whether they will act on the evidence of course is another matter entirely!

No trees were harmed by this post, but some electrons have been slightly inconvenienced

There are no shortcuts on the long, hard road to success. But if your dad's rich there could a limo service...

Its got to the point in Britain where you pay, no matter what. Whether it is national treasures like Stonehenge (owned by us) cathedrals (we paid for) roman ruins (which we built) or even Freeview channels (thanks Virgin) you have to pay. Driving in to an airport to drop a passenger off is going to cost a minimum of three quid, woe betide you if you drive in to the wrong place- I know someone who drove in to the wrong car park, drove out again and got a penalty. Pay to go to A&E unless you are in an ambulance, and staying in a fast food car park a bit too long will land you with a hefty 'fine'. Take a wrong turning in Nottingham and you will find yourself on a tram track and fined, pull in to a bus lane to allow an ambulance to overtake and its gotcha! The latest fuss over an ambulance crew being fined for parking on a double yellow while they popped in a shop for some water shows just how bad it is.
