Ron

The plastic horn was the original mounting for the wing strut. As designed the kit only had a single strut and this strut terminated in a metal clevis which attached to the plastic horn. The builder of your model has gone for the more scale option of two struts and so the horn is now redundant

Any progress with the Champion, Ron?

I got hold of an airframe a little while ago so I've been watching this thread with interest as .

The owner before me powered it with an OS 120.  I'm in the process of installing a Zenoah G23.  From the previous posts that should be just the job.  That's when I get hold of a 90degree bend, carb trumpet and wrap around silencer!!!

Takes me back seeing this model again. I bought my kit at Woodvale in 1978 (World Champs), and got it for 40 as one corner of the box had been wet. There was no sign of the wood having been affected, so I couldn't resist it.

I sold it on unbuilt for 50 about a year later. I never did see it fly, as the chap who took it off my hands built it but sold it on again without flying it.

Hi all just going throw the posts as it's a bit slow at work & found urs
I found 1 of these kits in a toy shop nr Oxford 2 years ago paid 50 for it
Finished it last year I put a sc. 91fs in it 1st flow ok but needed a bit more power as I want to use it as a tug so changed it to a sc 120 fs. Now is a lovely flyer.

The low level fly bys are so nice, it is a big old bird in the sky
The only thing I changed was I put the servos in the wings thats about it.
Lap top bust at the mow so I don't know how to post a photo of mine from my iPhone :-\
Working on lancester 134", 125" b-17,
