So 16.50 to fly your plane in 'air' which I thought was free, so what do you think is a reasonable tax to breath it ?. :D
oh god he said it. There are lights going on all over the government as a think tank considers the Carbon Reducing Oxygen Charge.

This is actually where the comparison to the fishing license is similar, the Enviro agency has the right to any body of water not contained within a building, they are also however, partly responsible for the maintenance of it. Maybe clubs will now also get that priviledge  ;D ;D ;D

So, given that the French aeromodelling competancy/registration is free, how does the cost of a French fishing licence compare (do they even have them)?

If our 16.50 fee goes up a lot as a result of few registrations it might become cheaper for us southerners to drive over to france and fly/fish there.

No modelling taxes over here  "yet"  :-X but they are ( Gendarmerie ) starting to check the Reg N's on our planes on local model fields,,  :embarassed:

Fishing licences are different, they cover the cost of cleaning up the river banks, control the water and pollution and restock the fish.
Mode 2 THE only way to fly

Wont happen here- you get your car nicked or house burgled and you have to go to the local council offices- (used to be a police station) where a civilian gives you a crime number. Any police show their faces on our field they will be told in no uncertain terms to vacate our private property.

If the registration fee doubles, which it undoubtedly will, you'll be better off (financially) giving up modelling all together and taking up fishing anywhere in the UK!
If the attitude of the majority is reflected by the posters on the other forum they'll be happy to pay and jump as high as necessary to carry on flying.

if necessary, I would too. But I shall fight this as hard as I can, and may simply refuse to pay.

Given your public statements on this subject Bob, I wouldn't have though that the police would have a problem getting a warrant to investigate your violation of the ANO  :ev.
