Laser 100 what is the upper size of model
« on: August 09, 2018, 11:02:05 AM »
Despite my despair at getting bits from laser, I managed to get on the better side of a swap, my sc 61 gets a laser 100, quite old but bags of compression and fitted with the new carb.
I've nearly finished my takeover project of a Ruhig Tigre 72 which is a stits playboy lookalike with a very thick wing section.
Currently it's prepared for a 25cc petrol but this will probably overpower it significantly.
Projected all up weight is 4.5 - 5 Kg and I'm wondering if a laser 100 will have the grunt to haul it round.
Any views?

It depends on what you expect from it and how you want to fly it.
If you want to gently potter around the sky, the power will be more than enough.
If you want it to climb rapidly to the clouds like its ar5e is on fire, the power might not be enough.

Thanks for that, Brian. TBH I don't think this model was ever going to emulate a homesick angel, the wing seems almost funflyesque (new word there eh?) and even with the ngh 25 up front it was going to be a slow old thing.
Reality says I don't want to have to change engines so I'm probably going to go with plan A and put the ngh in it and use a large diameter fine pitch prop like an 18x6 APC to try to tame it.
