Either the one with the tie (who wears a collar and tie to go flying!) and dodgy comb-over, or the one at the back with the laconic grin and Simprop Tx.

There are no shortcuts on the long, hard road to success. But if your dad's rich there could a limo service...

You got it on your third attempt. I think I was about 23 or 24 then.

Yep Simprop Digi 5 bought from Avicraft and sold to me by Jim Perkins! of J Perkins distribution who used to work for Bunny Newman on occasion.  Plus a "Stringalong" Bipe from RM plans with an HP61F, one of the first in our club.  IIRC it was 25 and I paid a fiver a week to Ron Finnis in Maidstone models (he put it aside til I paid for it)

My next major engine purchase was an OS 61FSR bought in the same manner from the same shop!
RIP Ron. That went in a Wolfgang Matt Super Star, superb model.

.
The guy with the tie etc was Ben and he was a Tug Boat skipper on the Thames. He was either on his way to work or had just left when the photo opportunity came up. It was the Gravesend clubs 70th anniversary, GAC was one of the first recognized  model clubs in the country.

Laconic moi, never
