« on: September 11, 2017, 13:55:52 PM »
I need to source two springs for a set of oleos, dimensions are

Length............60 mm  (could shorten a longer spring )
Outside dia.......11.8 mm  mustnt be bigger than 12mm
Inside dia..........8 mm
Wire size..........1.6 mm
Number of coils..15

Ive no idea where to start looking and internet searches havent helped.  Its for a 12kg-13kg warbird mains.

Hi Pete I think Tony Clark in Germany has springs but I don't know what size, there used to be a woman here in Cyprus that made them to order but I think she has gone now, she made me some , ill check
Got a picture of my JL SU27 that you will not want to see, lost all radio contact with it, even had time to pass the tx over to Demitris but there was no contact, both engines severely damaged
While we were picking the bits up another one came down 30m away so they all packed up

The first springs I bought for model oleos back in my glow DF days in the 1980s for a 16lb BAe Hawk came from here:  http://www.leespring.com/

The most recent springs I bought, for my 17lb Bucker Jungmeister, came from here:  http://www.flexosprings.com/

Here's another source:  https://www.springmasters.com/compression-springs/index.html  I haven't dealt with these folks but just have their web address bookmarked.

The minimum order amounts can be off-putting, but at least you end up with springs for future projects   ::)

Thanks all, I'll give them a try. Antonnick, they dont post to the UK unfortunately.

Tony, not good.  I test flew the Mustang last weekend.  On the second flight I was coming in over long grass so throttled up to go round again, but since it was 2 foot high it was too late and ripped the under carriage out.  The one I had replaced wasn't so much as phased by it, so snapped the oleo instead.  The one that didn't need repairing completely failed and ripped out.  All repairable but very pi$$ed off after all the work I had done on it.  Ive decided no more building for me.  Too much emotional involvement when things go wrong.  I'm going to join the ARTF brigade from now on, I've had enough.
Pete
