Futaba 14sg tx. Aerial
« on: June 26, 2018, 07:23:25 AM »
Broke again on the tranny. I treat this with kid gloves. Always in a case etc. The hinge pin has broke again ! !. The leads intact and it range checks ok, can I use it for a couple of days until Mike Ridley can replace the same thing ??.

Funny that Futaba don't call back these 1000 radios and stick a bit of tape on them . :D

I have one of these tx,and mine broke early on, it was replaced by Futaba at a cost to me, they do seem to be the weakest link

Super glued mine a couple of years ago, quite a solid job now and have not had a problem since. but it is treated with kid gloves.
Not good enough for a so called quality radio. But we live with it............... $%&

Ditto mine Dave.... :-\.
Seems a very common issue. Living with mine as is , doesn't seem to be a functional problem.

Are they "1,000 radios"? I thought they were very much a non-budget but low-to-mid-range radio. Weren't they in the 300-400 range (with Rx etc)?

I just looked it up, and yes around 500 for a 14 channel radio, I have an FX-30 and in 2009 with the 2.4 and 41 MHz modules it was over 1000
for a 12 channel radio. :embarassed:

Yes your right PDR .
Incidentally my other cheap as chips six channel Futaba which I've owned for years has never suffered  any damage and been treated the same, But I still prefer the 14 SG.

I paid 450 from investors (remember them) about 5 years ago. Being fixed by Mike ridley. Good radio, scrappy plastic.
