McGregor/JR
« on: March 24, 2017, 13:17:07 PM »
Hi Chaps
Does anyone know whether or not the above company is still trading in UK. I have an XG 7 tranny and have been looking for another DMSS receiver but there seems to be no availability, and wonder if this situation is permanent or temporary only.

Here you go http://macgregor.co.uk/jrpropo.htm but late last year JR announced that they were moving production of their RC stuff from Japan to Malaysia and temporarily suspending development while they focused on industrial projects. This does seem to have caused some interruption to some products.

Have you tried talking to MacGregor? The factory in Malaysia has been producing JR products since 1996 so is well established. My understanding is that they are producing products in batches, servos were 1st and many types were received by MacG in late January, Rx's I think are next in line and will probably arrive UK late April.

I read somewhere that JR were giving up on RC production, certainly on Tx development although they were to carry on with servos ad rx's for a while. I can not find where I read this, I thought it was on the RC Model Reviews site but I can not find it now.

Basic Research is what I do - when I don't know what I'm doing!.

Not quite right, they have suspended development for a while and relocated production, actual statement is here https://www.jrpropo.co.jp/english/news/contents.php?no=3537

I find this all very frustrating, I bought an XG8 combo back in October 2016, at the time there were plenty of receivers available, I had previously sold everything so was starting up again, at the time I had one model on the go so didn't think to buy a spare receiver, then when I started looking at adding to the hanger back in January I found no one had any DMSS receivers except the basic Parkfly and the expensive 2 battery (like powersafe) multi satellite versions neither of which were suitable for the sort of models I was looking at.  I contacted MacGregor in January and they told me about the factory relocating to Malaysia and that they were expecting the receivers early March, well that went well didn't it, I feel very let down, I bought JR on past experience and reputation and basically feel that I've ended up with a useless crock of s**t and I would argue, as there are no receivers available, unless I buy compatible ones from China, not fit for purpose.
When you're chewing on lifes grissle don't grumble give a whistle and this'll make things turn out f
