alpina 4001 and euromaster differences?
« on: September 23, 2013, 17:36:11 PM »
Besides a difference in span of 250mm what are the main differences of the alpina 4001 and euromaster?

The euromaster i beleive has a 3 piece wing, so not centrally mounted using a wing joiner (not quite sure on this as its a while seen i saw one at the local slope).
The fuz is a lot slimmer, more like a mouldie.
The section is HQ 2.5-9W mod alpina is RG15 mod.
Prolly a lot more differences, a good model in its own right, but not an Alpina, if you want an Alpina clone get an Alpina.
Flightwise, its flys more like a Cult than an Alpina.

You want an Alpina..You do. A large one..You want an Alpina. An Alpina is what you want.

It was mine. - yes it is now sold. I still have a BNIB Euromaster kit that is for sale.  I fly the electric version (Elektromaster)  - same wings, but  slightly fatter fuselage.

It flies not that differently to an Alpina - any difference is probably down to wing loading. Both have stiff/strong wings that can take some welly (g). A Euromaster will out soar an Alpina in weak conditions (due to being lighter).

Either plane will do slope and flat field, my 4001 does both very well and I'm sure the Euromaster will do too.

If it's a good price, grab it. They fly nice, and I'm sure Ant will assist. Cheers,

What is the difference between a hq2.5 and th 15? I'm very tempted as the 3 piece wing is easier to transport and store

Check that it is 3 piece, I'm not positive. Are you after the one that was on SSUK? I think he had an alpina too so could prolly tell you the difference.

Yes - the Alpina 4001 has a 2-piece wing. The Euromaster has a 3-piece wing with the centre-section bolted to the fuselage. The wing tips are attached to the centre-section using 10mm carbon joiners.

Look what arrived on my bench. It's a tangent cult, 3.4m span. Vtail, with mh32 section. I've spent the day redoing the linkages and getting decent throws. She's not flown yet, but it I expect it'll fly a bit like a smaller alpina, perhaps a bit faster. Hopefully find out soon enough!

after a 250 mile round trip with lots of rain it has arrived in my workshop. It's the carbon master edition as I thought so well worth the money and very strong! I have a few niggles with the work that's already been done but it can be sorted with a bit of elbow grease. The servos come with it some multiplex offering for the ailerons 3bb's which I need to look up. Flaps hs125mg and brakes hs225mg's. There many be some swapping around though, Ill post up a few pics as I go. matt

I have 5245s all round on mine, it was a squeeze a bit in the wings, but I didn't think 125s would be up to it at the time, but I'm sure they would be fine, even hs85s are a maybe, work fine on my airbrakes.
Are you glassing or oracovering? I would glass mine next time, oracover showing signs of wear after a couple of years. I wouldn't use solar film, but if you want oracover it will cost a few quid to cover that span.
Another thing, if you want to save a bit, don't bother with the airbrake servos, and tape them up, I have never used mine ever, crow is A1. Very easy to land.

If you already have the servo's for the spoilers I would definitely recommend them, mine work great mixed to pop up with the crow/butterfly braking.  I have Ino-lab HG-D250mg servos on flaps, ailerons and spoilers, fast, precise and powerful and the same size as a Hitec 85mg. Had over 200 flights with mine and used the spoilers/crow every time for landing without a single hitch, makes pin-point landings a breeze. Mine will land vertically in a 15-20mph breeze on the slope, looks very impressive when you see a 4.6kg 4 meter sailplane do this. The hardest thing to do with this plane I've found is launching it in a 50mph wind, once it's flying it's fine, but trying to keep it under control when it's still in your hands is a nightmare.
You'll love it I'm sure.
Regards
Simon.

Not much use to you now matt, but another alpina up for grabs, if anyone else has been waiting for a NIB kit.

I finally maidened my Kult. Its 3.4m span mh32.The lift was 25-30mph and pretty full on and often gusty. After few checks she was chucked off.
It felt very solid and very accurate. Different to the alpina in that it felt so solid in such a strong blow and inspired to be chucked about, right from the launch. Wings very solid and much less flex thanthe Alp. Crow was effective as you would expect for such big flaps. Big aerobatics and a very nice flyer. I also maidened my Akrostar, which was a pocket rocket, but the Kult  was just as nice a flyer.

Yes - Neil you bought it from me. I've since regretted selling it :-(
I still have a Multiplex Elektromaster, which is great for flying from less obvious/marginal slope sites and of course flying off the flat.

Well, since buying the euromaster from you , I'm now employed by an engineering company in Gamlingay, just a few miles away !
The euromaster now has a sister called Alpina to share the hanger space with 😀
They both fly well, Euromaster in lighter conditions, Alpina in windier weather
