Flying at last
« on: April 20, 2018, 18:24:40 PM »
Been a couple of years since I've flown..I was taken to Los Banos yesterday by a new found flying friend...I was pretty rusty, not helped by the changeable conditions; Wind direction varied and came and went with the thermals coming through. Good day out all told, apart from a bad landing in the rotor that damaged a wing tip on my Hammer V tail glider. A loverrrly Sweitzer scaly too.

Kryten: Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb.

Fantastic location

I wasn't there over the weekend, but this bloke was...Very nice 6.6 metre. Get an idea of the terrain.

I stay in touch with Andy M and John V and they've kept me posted about the ongoing situation. The thing with Los Banos is I don't have a car and haven't a US driving license anyway, and it's a two hour drive each way.. And that's the nearest slope site to here. We live in a huge valley so it's mainly powered and flat field gliding. Callow spoiled me as it was near perfect for me.

Well in a few years you could take a trip to the southern end of SoCal and set a new distance record by sloping the length of Trump's bigliest most beautiful wall - I'm sure the Donald will make sure that the mexicans reimburse your expenses...

Hi Steve,
Fascinating video. What are the units on the instruments? I have often thought about putting avideo in a Scale glider cockpit but I s=assumed that the reflections would totally destroy the view, which is clearly not so. Sunny blue skies too!
You are not missing anything at Callow Bank. The local Mr Nasty has put up fences and wooden posts all over the landing area. He has even taken to leaving rotting sheep carcasses about the place.
The family want him off but it seems his lease is watertight.
John
