I went Ian, it was good if not very short on flying time...approx 4 mins for 22 pound...??? 10 there after.
I took control from cable release to final & saw the lake I fish right next to the strip on the other side of the trees.
Maybe I got the wrong idea but had visions of heading over to the downs & getting some slope lift & some hight. The reality was very different but still enjoyable.
I did worry that my knees were in the way a bit... He gave me a shout when he deployed the air brakes so I could get my left knee out the way. When he did the preflight checks & waggled the stick about he hit both my knees! I did bring this up with him & he said we "shouldn't " need that much movement!
I enjoyed the evening & was told i did very well & should consider taking it up...I bet they say that to all the customers!

I have just stumbled across a couple of weather links that might come in handy, as they appear to be from an amateur meteorologist in Willingdon. :af

For the F3F tomorrow I have 3 questions:

(1) With West or WSW wind I guess it will be held on the left flank of the Long Man bowl?

(2) The forecast only says 8mph but I guess that is just enough to hold the event? (8mph on the flat could be 12mph on the bowl)

(3) What sort of time do entrants need to be there to sign up, 10am or so?

Yes will probably be on the left .
Wind should be enough but have to see if lift is good enough.
Start is meant to be at 10

The trouble with an F3F in a west is having to fly under the path so the wind gets blocked by the hill in front  :'(

Really would love to run it further up the hill but not sure I want the responsibly

I quite like flying in light conditions
Lots of time to think and learn, anyone can fly sub 40s in massive air but flying a sub 60s in 4ms takes real skill
Ill be happy with sup 70s  :xx

Hi all,

Sods law I know, but it actually turned out to be quite a reasonable day at the LM in the end.

Matt turned up shortly after you all left, so I managed a quick fly in the bowl, but then we decided to head up top onto the West flank & sat it out until the drizzle/mist cleared (about 1.20-ish).

We flew until about 4.00, & were also joined by a couple of other aviators. :''

We got two rounds then stopped due to rain

We will be trying again on the next available reserve but we are holding on to the times of the two rounds in case we decide to add then in to the mix

I am sorry that I could not join you on Sunday but I have injured my right knee (long story and it includes a heavy glider and a slope) I was told by the osteopath to rest it and NOT to yomp up the LM! Added to that the weather did not look good for a comp so driving 60 miles each way did not appeal  >:(
However if the comp is re-run then I hope to be there  :)

Since the Hop Farm show has been cancelled how about we pencil in Sunday 16 September as a South Downs get-together?

Excellent! They could employ those sheep over at Butts Brow...the grass is the highest I've ever seen it on the North slope. The current bunch are slacking!

Eeeek, its looking like WSW-SW, so presumably the less appealing SW bowl at the LM AGAIN. ::)

Its a shame that there are so many factors involved, because it probably would have been ideal today.

It was quite impressive lift & quite mild/thermic at the LM.

We were also joined by a Dutch group. :-X
