Good evening all. New to the area. Taking steps to join the Essa. Just off to bed but thought I'd come on here and say I'm planning on taking something very floaty, namely my 3m Algebra, to Firle Beacon around 1100 tomorrow to see if I can scratch some light lift. She'll go in 4kts if I'm gentle on the sticks. Has anyone ever tried to use a bungee at Firle? Cheers for now, Roger, newly moved to Pevensey Bay.

Hope you get on well at Firle. Nice sunny day for it, but I'm not sure there is going to be any slope lift.

Yes nice sunny day at Firle
No wind no lift but I did fling the Alula about, it didn't stay up so no lift at all.
Just good to get out in the fresh air :)

Yep. The sun was actually quite warm on one's back but as predicted very little wind and no slope lift. Having taken the Cularis as backup I was able to get a good 40 mins in, practicing my thermal turns. There was actually some very weak thermal activity further out from the hill, but it was beyond my early developing thermal skills to do anything other than delay my descent! Good fun though and nice to get out for my first flying since October - moving house is incredibly time consuming!

Hi All,

Having met up with Matt, Mat, Dave and Jon at Butts Brow the other week, I decided a really must enter the Aerobatics competition this weekend.

However, I have a couple of issues-

1) I don't know how to fly aerobatics
2) I don't have a fully aerobatic model.
3) Although i can see the list of manoeuvres on the website, I don't know which order to fly them in?

Solutions:

1) I have PicaSim - I'm getting the idea, also there may be a good website on slope aero's someone could point me to?
2) I have a Stargazer 2. This is semi-aerobatic. But not doing too well inverted (but there again that could simply be my lack of skill), and a Multiplex Cularis, which I have yet to try.
3) Hoping someone will enlighten me on this one.

So -

- Could someone suggest a good website for slope aerobatic advice? Or just give me some advice generally?
- Any advice on how to improve the Stargazer's aerobatic performance - would a little ballast help? It's quite a floater at the mo.
- Is there a specific order to fly the manoeuvres? If not, any suggestion as to a good order in which to fly - assuming conservation of energy is key, perhaps there is a natural flow that a novice like myself wouldn't spot?

Weather is looking a bit unsuitable at the mo - SE'ly and light. So on the day it should be fine, since we now know it's unlikely to be SE'ly and light...

Cheers all,

RogerH

Mr fatcharlie
Donít worry too much about the competition its all friendly I have entered with flying wings never with a fully aerobatic plane.
All the manoeuvres will be explained when you come to them .I learnt a lot by entering still canít fly them well. See you there
The wind is not looking good for Sunday  .
