John ,If it is ,and you've time to spare i'll take you somewhere great! ;) :co
Bustergrunt, you can fly mouldies at both of these locations( i fly my sunbird and blade, ect, there) but really muddy at the moment so i use guppy, m60,and halfpipe. My friend was flying his weasel in video but it is film covered ( it also helps in midairs!!)

Thanks for the offer Enrico,  but sadly time to spare is something I won't have - not this visit anyway!  I'll probably arrive about midnight Thurs/Fri and depart after lunch on Sunday.  If the wind's right then I might get out for the odd hour or so,  but probably no longer.  Maybe in the summer though. :xx

Yes,  I was just reading about that somewhere else, Enrico.  Ken seemed to be suggesting that you might have supplied some dodgy wing-bolts...  ;D

Wind was all over the place down here this weekend - I'd been hoping to get out to either my local slope (works from SE to SW winds) or maybe one of the South Downs slopes (mostly NW to NE or thereabouts.)  Yesterday it rained all day, today wasn't must better, and the wind was fairly feeble, mostly from the East. ::)

I got out to do some power-flying at the club though this afternoon.  Fingers have almost thawed out now!

I'll stick the glider in the car when I come up on Thursday evening anyway.

I've yet to fly there,  the wind never seems to co-operate when I'm up in the NE!  The minute I arrive it swings round to the west - no good for Collywell or Collingwood,  and I usually don't have time for anywhere further afield.

Been staying at Powburn all weekend, flew Titlington on Friday with John Davison in 45-55mph S/Wester. Lift every where!!! Sunday Titlington again with Franky, Martin, and model shop Cam, wind 25-30 mph. Good day out and quite uneventful until driving home when the exhaust fell off my campervan ! :banghead:

Thought you may have come to titters, as it was 26lb Lanc weather early on but it did swing North by 5 oclock. Been on all day today lying under van sorting out exhaust !

Typical that I've been up there for 4 days and on the day I return south you get 3 or 4 days of good flying weather at the Bay. ::)

Hi
Anyone tried the coast in the Easington Colliery / Horden area please?
I'll be in Shotton Colliery for the weekend, will be able to grab a couple of hours flying when the family is watching the wedding and it looks like brisk Easterlies.
I'll be flying an M60 on 2.4 so not worried about landings or shoot downs of the interference kind.
I don't mind a bit of a hike btw.
Any other suggestions for Easterlies in the area appreciated.
I will have my BMFA card with me.
Cheers
Graham

Thanks Graeme
I thought Blackhall Rocks was more N.Easterly but on inspection I see there is an Easterly facing bit, with a picnic area marked on the OS map. That could be the spot as lots of the cliffs further North have fields right up to the clifftop it seems - don't particularly want to have to land in to crop fields but don't mind a picnic ;-))
Are there any particular spots you'd recommend?
Cheers
Graham

I rarely fly at the coast as an easterly is not prevailing for me and generally all my slopes are W/N or SW

I'm off to Seaham (North end car park) this evening for a fix if you fancy a trip out...I'll be there for approx 1800 hrs

Had the Guppy at Collywell Bay for 30 mins flying during the Royal junket but the rain spoiled things & I was getting some glitching if I went over one area so I went home around lunch time. A few others have been their this PM. I think there'll be a few of us there the next few days whilst the easterlies continue.
Since Jonah (AKA JohnP) returned south last week some of us have been flying their most days, albeit in very light to light wind.

...I'll be there for approx 1800 hrs

You setting up a second home ?  :o

Nope (I wish I could afford a 2nd home), I live in Chester le Street , I drove past Collywell bay today, but no-one was flying at that time so the plane stayed in the car with me and wifie.
Seaham was good but cold (wearing shorts as usual, perhaps not the best plan :D) this evening and I was there for approx 45 mins, I considered driving up to the sluice again but thought I'd wait til Sat or Sun :)

I thought you'd have had quite good winds there this week (after I left... ::))  Certainly xcweather gave good reports for Boulmer each time I looked whilst stuck in the office!

And I predict good winds for Collywell Bay the week after the late-May bank holiday weekend... :-\

Hi All,

I'm after a bit of advice, I'm trying to find somewhere for a quick slope of my Crossbow DLG. Its only a 160g Alula-type thing.

However I am a complete slope virgin and don't fancy ditching it off a cliff at a first attempt. I live in Heaton in Newcastle so can drive to the majority of the sites you guys mention.

Any recommendations (or tips!) for Easterly slopes (today and tomorrow) where i wont have to swim if I get it wrong?

I was thinking Drurige Bay off the dunes, but if theres anywhere closer? Maybe Town Moor?

Anyone out and about on Monday?

Cheers,

Rich
