Hi Ryan

If you're going to get into more sloping and more planes I'd bite the bullet and get a transmitter that'll do all the glider type mixes you need... it'll give you a much better flying experience.

As for the Mini Blade, I'd always be dubious about buying a mouldy that has been damaged and repaired... I'd only buy it if I knew the person well and could fly it before buying.

I reckon if you keep your eyes peel on here and bmfa you'll get something better or cheaper. I wouldnt be fixed on the MB either... theres loads of choice.

Steve

Good advice. I'll second that.

What's the plan for tomorrow?

With the conditions as they are set to be, i'm definately up for an all dayer. I'm thinking a 10am start isn't such a harsh thing for a stunning day on the slopes.

What say ya'll?

Hi Ryan

There is a new bee 2 coming out, however have a look and see what you think of these Telink s.r.o. 2009 v1 there are a variety of wings and cheaper than the beevo

Some cracking pics guys...

The Bazza/Andy Flik ones are great and the andy slope pron ones made me spit out my tea :)

Sorry Andy... shame I didnt pay any attention to getting the horizon level when taking the pics of your F4  :embarassed:... nothing photoshop cant fix tho!... still looks the dogs danglies tho  :af.... hopefully she'll be back with us again soon  :xx

To hide the repair to come, just stick on a black nose like this...

I get the impression you're not keen to repair it yourself... seeing as you travel a bit why not put the word out and see if someone will strap it up for it?.... You could have it flying again by next weekend  ;)

pretty sure using the stick method we could have that ready for next weekend

eheheh those dudes sounded like trouble when you were talking about them yesterday!

If seans holding off on the beevos, I wouldnt go for the cheaper telink stuff, its not in the same league as the windrider stuff, either wait for the Bee 2, get the Beevo or just get the Irvine X-it which is readily available over here (its the original Bee re badged... Gary has one and its good)... all you need to do is get a carbon spar to go in it (the hole for it is already pre moulded)...

Irvine X-it - A-IRVXIT - ModelmaniacsOnline.Co.Uk

The Bee 2 is as the X-it (bee) but with mods like carbon spar included and internal push rods... the wing section and plan form is exactly the same.

Gents, thanks for the options. At some point i'm gonna have to spend some time making repairs to mouldies so now is as good a time as any.

Phil, i think i'm gonna try the stick method first. Once the glass has stuck to the insides, i'll mix up some glue (with some micro balloons in it ?) and stick it on the outside. I'll then spend some time sanding at back to a good level of finish before painting it black. Looking at loads of photos on line last night, it is not currently to scale, and increasing the length of the black nose cone would lend itself to scale.

Gent's your legends. Thanks for the input.

dunno if it's right, so like i said start a thread, but heres what i'd do.

tidy up the frayed edges a little, but not so much that you can't line the cone up properly again.
put a few lolly sticks around the edge facing the cone, fix these in with epoxy, they should follow the line of the inside of the fuz, so check that with each one before fixing. the more the better here i think.

when dry smear epoxy on the exposed parts of the sticks and slide the nose on.

if access is easy, and i don't think it is, when dry apply a wing bandage or similar to the inside covering up the crack the sticks arn't.
if access isn't easy you'll be wanting a thinner layer of cloth over and in the crack. when dry rub back and add more resin ( maybe more cloth too ), when dry rub back and repeat until the nose is smooth.
I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

Hey Andy

Some suggestions from the guy I was talking about, if you have enough room to get your hand in the fuzz then put a ring of glass tape, available from from Halfords with their glass resin, in around the joint. Use grp tape to keep in place while setting. The loose hair around the outside set with a little more resin, sand back, back fill with car body filler. Then paint. Hope this might help Sean

You sir, are a gent!

I like the idea of the Halfords tape. What do you reckon to this little set up?
Halfords sticky, glue like stuff with glass. . . .[/url]

The good news is that I can get my hand in from the fuzz although it's a comfortable fit! At least I should be able to ensure the matt is fully covered.
It's at times like this that i'm gutted not to be able to attend the Redruth build evenings that they used to hold.
 :'(

It's also dawned on me that the nearest place to get modelling balsa (or equivalent) is West Wings in Helston! Does anybody know anywhere else slightly more local to me in Perranporth (based on my lasy visit it looks like Hobbyzone in Newquay is dying a slow death).
