Did the fog clear in the end?

I checked out Loe Bar after dropping some supplies off for the wife  ::)... no fog or mist in sight... I got a good hour or so on the MiniD... plenty of tweaking/tuning etc.

You're right about the snap flap Si, I left it on all the time  :af

I'm really liking Loe Bar...

We flew our planes for a little while and then we went home.
 ;)
Oh yeah, Phil flew his mini blade post repair and it ripped it up. Sounded fantastic. Really good screach to it when it banged a turn.
 ;D
Oh and I also maidened my new F4 Phantom. Needed next to no trim, no ballast. It just flew. Well. Very well. In fact it was awesome. It looked so scale in the air. I'm absolutely, totally stoked with it. 120 very well spent!
 ::cc

Thanks to Ryan, Phil, Bazza and Dan for all your help and encouragement. Wouldn't have done it without you.

Photos to follow.

Like the look of that Phantom. Is it a kit?

It definately looks like it originated from a kit of some type (likely to have once been an inducted fan model although I don't believe it has ever been converted from / to one). It's got a fiberglass fuz (from a mould) and what feels like EPP wings. It's got a 48" span and a very long fuz. Would love to know more about the origins of the model myself (it was at least second hand by the time I picked it up).

Paul, what can I say. I'm really, really sorry. I know you were keen on her too. At the time of choosing, I had to pick the one model that would "float my boat" on a regular basis. The Spitfire looked very impressive but I questioned how much flying I would actually get out of it. Saying that, i'm still very interested in it.

The wind is currently a lot lighter than expected. Still blowing a fair bit but no where near the 40mph mark that was previously expected. If the weather holds, it could well be a very good day.

I'm up for some  :D

take one guess ;)

and by 11.30 he means 3 :D

I dunno what to do, west is a troublesome direction for me to fly locally, so another trip to staggy sounds sensible... its the possible heavy showers that are putting me off however the radar is showing them at a good 100miles away.... hmmm  :study:

just watching bbc weather now, the very front of the showers do hit about 10, maybe slightly north of staggy but not hanging about for too long, but the rest never make it meaning it's clear by about 11.
the cloud comes back by 2 and we'll be rained out about 3

think 11.30 may be a bit late if we want a decent fly, might be worth trying to catch the end of the showers around 10.30

winds around sevenstones are still in the 20's and may well pick up behind the first front, infact thats exactly what magic seaweed says so bring your lead!

andy, your wings are EPS, then most likely obdechi and maybe brown paper finished.
I know you believe you understand what you think i said, but i am not sure you realise that what you think you heard is not what i meant.

That got binned a few weeks ago as i could not get the time off work and Nikki was complaining about the amount of money i was spending. It was the squadron that killed it though.

 :-\

From what you have said it could very well be an old LMC kit . . . . it is far to big to be a Howard Metcalfe kit, it looks about the same size. They had glass fuselage and foam wings. They were powered by 60 size motors and they had several in the range such as the Mirage 2000, Tucano, Hawk and a harrier! i had one of the Harriers with a webra 61 in it . . . . interesting to fly.

just got home, and it's started raining bang on 3, had a couple more showers than expected, and the wind could of done with being 20-30 mph less, but cleared out the cobwebs thats for sure ::cc
