I've got a week off next week (not starting tomorrow) so will be hoping the weather plays nice and I get some flying in.

Give us a yell when you decide to head up.

The RCsoar calendar is the one that is kept up to date most regularly. The comps are pretty regular through summer with twice a month being not uncommon.

Beautiful day again with better wind today for flying. Hope someone/anyone is making the most of it :af
I am locking myself in the garage and not coming out until I have finished one of the planes on the bench.
See ya
Got the ballast tube in the fuz and had a play with the Tx but did not spend enough time in the garage today as I distracted myself with this Forum lark. :)

PSS bash at the Bwlch was provisionally hoping to happen on the 18th April. Gotta find a new date now as Round 1 of the BMFA leagues is at the Bwlch that weekend.

Thanks for checking - bummer but typical.

How does the 11th or 25th April sound?

I finished fixing up my Ellito last night!!
Just like to say a massive 'THANKS' to Andrzej for deciding that he didn't want to fix it for himself.
I am really looking forward to maidenning it, hopefully this weekend.
She feels pretty heavy (AUW without ballast = 2.7kg).

Now to do the Flying Fish!

25th April is good for the PSS Bash at the Bwlch. Don't forget that you have to be covered by appropriate insurance to fly at the Bwlch :af

The forecasts have been a bit topsyturvy the last couple of days, but it's looking reasonable for either VR98 or Icecream slope at the Bwlch on both Satdy and Sundy.
Anyone think they might be able to make it?

You'll love the Gulp.  I'm really getting into mine (its a SR)  It was a ball ache to build, but super easy to set up.  I went with throws and CoG as per the instructions and she flew great.

Quite heavy snow here last night- and that's Swansea! So the mountain roads up to the Bwlch would have been blasted.
Gonna have a morning in the warm carrying on my Wasabi mod.
If you get there Clayt- good luck with your maiden (not too much down on launching ;) )

Much the same over here on the West coast.  It's been snowing all morning, but looks to be clearing now.  Day in the warm for me also I think.

Bwlch only got a little bit of snow and the roads had actually been gritted (Wonders never cease :D )
I can't remember the last time I was that nervous with regards to flying.
Set up the camera on my tripod and caught pretty much nothing.
Flew for about twenty minutes and the last ten of that was trying to change the direction of the Elevator comp on the butterfly with a radio that I have never used before while scratching for lift cause the wind died off to almost nothing at about 10 minutes. The first time I activated the B/fly, it did a snap floop. Very Sphincter fluctuating :o .
I couldn't get enough height to get over the road so I had to try a slope side landing and my B/fly probably needs more flap to slow it down more (?). Just after one of the many attempts at landing I hit some pretty serious (IMO) sink and  :oaborted the next circuit in favour of a downwind upslope landing. Made it safely with the exception of a dislodged flap servo.

Home now to re-glue and my feet are still iceblocks :'(
Back at it tomorrow if anyone is keen :P

Yeah, not the best conditions to maiden a model and try to set up butterfly etc.
Pity it wasn't finished in time for that good day at Rhossili when Mike E. was also sorting his.
Tomorrow looks ok - NW 12+MPH. I'm up for that ( weather dependant) I'll be in touch first thing tom.
See ya.

Went back up this arvo and had an interesting session.
Andrzej and Knewt arrived at the same time as me and Andy West arrived a little bit after.
The wind was fickle.
Andrzej's Ascot got the worst of the lift and he ended up landing out. I hope the plane survived well.
The wind picked up a little bit after Kev and Andrzej left and Andy and I had a short fly with our mouldies. I popped my flap servo on landing again and Andy had his first session since October and flew and landed his old Sting without issue.
It was good to see some different faces up the Bwlch :af

Conditions like Rhossili the other weekend would've been great :)

Still up for a sesh tomorrow after the wife gets home from the gym probly about 11ish?

Just thinking the same thing Clayt.

You can fly in a N.W wind by going to the North end of the bay- I do that quite often.
Get back to me if your interested today and I'll give you directions to meet up, which doesn't mean walking up that bleedin' big hill by Hillend caravan park >:(

Went to icecream slope at lunch time just in time to see the snow and clag roll in.
I decided not to wait and see and went down to Rhossili instead.
I managed to have four flights with four reasonable landings and no damage!!
It was fantastic to get some F3F type turns in good wind.
Saw a storm rolling in and raced it to my car.. the storm won by the length of the main straight.
Looking forward to getting back up there tomorrow arvo

Tx in hospital this week but i haven' got any plans for thursday, if you need a cameraman i'll gladly come down for a spin/yak
Stripped coverng off the models, the gulp needs a fair bit of work and the hp seems ok just needs recovering i'm thinking spuckle/solartex/ 125 ns, got most of the stuff on order.Should take me a couple of weeks max.
By the way, i've got the neoprene gloves safely in my car if you still want them.
