HaHa cheers Clayts, I have found my old mojo for small electrics and Ehelis but the slope mojo is still hiding somewhere  :).
I have started to put together a 60" EPP plank between making small electric pylon racer type models (2/3 scale E2K racer if you've seen the last BMFA rag). With the cost of brushless motors and LiPos so low it only costs a few £ to put one together and I can fly on the fields behind the house. I've tried using slope methods of covering the wing with NS to keep it real cheap but it doesnt work as well on bare pink foam so I have an experiment on the bench at the mo curing, epoxy and brown paper bagged. It looks real smooth at the mo and I'm hoping it should be paintable with minimal work once cured  $%&, will know later today.

Mike

Incase your wondering why go through the trouble of bagging and not go the full hog and not use glass?....Brown paper is cheap and doesn't need Mylars for a finish so the cost is minimal.

I've nearly hit the buy button for some electric stuff lately too but have managed to resist. With the good weather (optimistic, I know) coming, I will keep concentrating on slope for the summer and see how I feel later. I've got some racing to organise for the season too.
Are you going to be able to join in in the three welsh events?

Just been out in the garage inhaling some balsa dust and I found some of my MoJo :af
Wife has been giving me a wide berth lately... must have been pretty bad company without my MoJo... or she's just sick of me.

Nice one Clayts :af, I've been balsa bashing this afternoon also, made a fuse for a 24" leccy pylon racer :P. The brown paper/epoxy bagging experiment worked better than I thought it would, results leave a stiff, light weight, ready for paint wing  :af

Hard life for some, eh dave $%& Do the Florida locals look like the cast and extras from CSI Miami? :xx :xx ;D

Mike, the brown paper sounds like a reasonable idea. Maybe you could put one layer of glass under the paper to strengthen it a bit? or have you got a good spar set up?

Hey Rog, XC says it is swinging west at around lunch time tomorrow and drying up with good wind. you gunna hit Rhossili?

Cheer up Clayt- Saturday and Sunday forecast is sunny, Westerlies ~15mph which would mean 20+ on Rhossili top.
Two days of good slopin'- hopefully wind too strong for the "Para boys" :ev

Yep, your local yocal will be there! :D
Got a new model to maiden and possibly take some vid- 2metre "homebrew" Sonic fus. +those streched Wasabi wings+ lightweight tail feathers.

Wind looks due to swing from WNW round to WSW hopefully 20-25 mph on the lip to ground the jelly fish.
I'm gonna be there from ~10.30. You got your mojo back Clayt?? :af

I'm heading to Newgale for a bit of cliff soaring with Tim tomorrow.  All welcome.  Going to start at the NT carpark at the south end and play it by ear from there.  We tried it last week, but the wind wasn't playing, however the wild ponies have created a great landing area.

Have a great time fellas (Al and Tim and whoever else hooks up).
I am testing out my new 2.4 FrSky set up in my patched up F3Ffer tomorrow and playing with both my racers too.
The nose cone on my Elito is kevlar/carbon so it will be a testy test too as I'm not too sure about the transparency for the signal. After I set up, I will do an extensive range test and if it fails I will fly it without the nose cone to be safe.

Another 'top shelf' day at Rhossili :co

Had great fun with the foam. Rogers new aerobat was the bees knees. Flew beautifully.

Andy and I spent ages trying to hit a strategically placed Elito nose cone from the top of some bushes.

I GOT SUNBURNT!! Yay!!! Never been happy to get burned before :ev

Elito flew beautifully with the FrSky gear in it although I didn't use the Nose cone. The CG shifted back a bit without the nose cone and she was quite twitchy on the elevator.

Anyone get out to the Bwlch this weekend?

Top afternoon at Newgale.  The lift was awesome.  We met two locals that were new to us.  And I've also got a sunburnt face.

Hopefully below is some on board footage of the scenery.

We're looking forward to it.  I binned my polecat a couple of weeks ago - no control on launch.  I started to put it back together yesterday, but had no power.  It turned out the the switch (jack plug and socket) socket had corroded.  So a major operation with a stanley blade to cut things out and a 40 mile trip to find a jack socket and i'm nearly there.  The switch is all soldered up, just need to make good the wing and where I've cut covering to get to the bits.

Heading inland? or Coastal?
Don't worry too much about stumbling on a suitable slope. try an unsuitable (Urban) one instead or a flat field and sniff out a thermal :af

Was asking myslf the same question this am. If I can get this bloke on the phone to confirm pick up of the stargazer i won on ebay from Llanelli, on looking at google earth I thought I'd see if the dunes at Oxwich were ok for my Alula (or even the weasel - but that may be pushing it).

Havent been to Oxwich for 20 years tho. but the dunes/beach do appear to face east / ESE 'ish'   :)

The pic. is taken looking west just past Tor bay, with Oxwich in the far distance- (not a bad Westerly slope but not much l.z.)
I'd say the dunes at Oxwich face ~South East.

Gower is really short on East facing slopes, one I use is above Pwll Du head looking East across to Caswell bay.

It's been a weird day over here in Pembrokehire.  I trekked a few miles over the Preselis looking for somewhere new to fly.  I only brought an Alula but the wind was a bit too much for it.  I hooked up with the local paragliders and spent the arvo with them.  From an Easterly it swung North but even the Alula struggled.  In the end I walked a strange dog back to the car (2 miles) so its owner could paraglide down.  Then I ferried the paras and the dog back to the car park.  A good afternoon, met some new people and burnt a few more calories off, which the strongbow is now putting back on :)
