The forecast on XC makes Sunday out to be reasonably dryish, just a few showers? I could be reading it wrong $%&

Really hope it is flyable on Sunday as I am hanging to do some laps with the freshly painted (and repaired...again) Fishyfish.
I have even put all my ballast in it in anticipation :ev

The updated forecasts for tomorrow are different on all the weather sites again  ::), they all agree that there will be rain at some point but they can't agree on when and how much. Still looking SSW to SW though which means we'd be closer to the cars.

I'm gunna head up about 9ish for a fun fly as that time through to 2ish has been fairly consistantly a reasonably good bet weatherwise.

Good luck  :af forecast has been spot on regarding the rain here, it hasn't stopped. Its one thing running back and for the car sports flying between rain showers but running a comp in rain is no fun, the stop starting and cancellation of rounds makes it a real chore and usually time runs out before end of play so no result anyway.

Take ballast with you  :)

Mike

As I look out the window its started pouring down again  >:(

I am finding out that the last two weeks of night shifts has messed with my mind and body!! Why can't I sleep :banghead:
I can't really go out in the garage as it is a bit noisy.

I was up at 5:30 couldn't sleep  ::) it was still pouring with rain here until 6:30 but it has now stopped and the sun it is trying to come out so you might get an hour or two on the slope if the low cloud lifts.

The low cloud didn't lift and it looked like it rained there all day. I waited about half an hour to see if it would blow through and then went to Southerndown, next to the old farm house on the cliffs. Sunshine and lots of lift and had a great morning. I took some helmet cam of my lumberjack and will post it if it is any good in the slope vid section. Sw is bang on for the cliffs along there and westerly is perfect for the big cliff at Southerndown beach.
Not likely to be clagged in there :af

It cleared for a short spell here first thing but it was pouring again by 12:30, the sun is just breaking through the clouds now so hopefully thats it, there can't be much rain left up there  :)

The clouds were forming really quickly to dark, heavy stormy clouds and heading straight up the heads of the valley road from what I could see from the cliffs. I only really got a light spattering from the edge of one or two storms.

Nothing to tell really, just a good afternoon on the doorstep. Flew the Wolf K10, no winglets and single fin stuck out the back, went well, 1lb of lead stuck to its back, it was low water so plenty of beack showing just in case , but the just in case not required!! :af

I will be in Penarth on Sunday. Just by Googling the surrounding area I think I found somewhere nearby that may be OK for the predicted Westerly wind. If you are stood on Barry Beach, looking out to sea, the headland sticking out on the left looks a possibility. Has anyone ever flown there?

Sorry Oldnslo, missed this post!
I've not flown the site, but AndrewW might have or Dav3uk might have as they are both local.
Hopefully flying tomorrow which is also a westerly. Might fly at Southerndown beach or the headland you described.
There is also the Westerly Slope at Mickeys up the Bwlch, but I don't have a key and tomorrow might be a day for flying near the car!!

Andy and I flew at Southerndown today. Andy maidened his halfpipe off the cliff :o . Fortunately it flew great and he didn't have to guide a spiral dive onto the rocks 120feet below.
Beautiful sunshine and a nice gentle breeze for most of the time. Wind picked up later on which makes landing very interesting.
Good Day :af

Well I made it to Penarth on Sunday. Time to have had a fly (from Paget Road?) except it rained either hard or harder. In the afternoon I could have skived away for an hour or so, except it poured. I shall have to look into PSS for flying boats, they should be watertight.
Apart from that though had a great day in welsh company.

Any of you lot interested in having some Pylon racing fun at the Bwlch on Dec 19th. Any EPP nosed and leading edge model will do. Zagis welcome. come and have some fun. If you have a Flying Fish, bring it too as I will be holding a race or two for them if the numbers allow. PM me or email me.

I know I'm pretty much leaving a note for myself, hopefully someone will read it and reply though :xx

Well I'm back. twas wery windy :o
Destroyed the Flying Fish after having a great time flying it with full ballast. Also flew the Lumberjack with full ballast, she loved it!
Met Harri Pihl (RCG slope holidays in Europe thread writer). He was flying a Aeromod Aldij (MiniJ?) all carbon 60" glider. Very strong little Blighter.
Nice bloke :af

Had a half day at work today so came home via Rhossili. Had a good fun fly with Cliffhanger. Great, smooth lift even though the wind was a little bit crossed from the South.
When we stopped flying, a BAE Hawk flew passed to the south and when we got back to the cars, a couple of Harriers (I think, though I have never seen one before) flew passed to the north. Nice little 'cap off' for a good arvo.  :co

I'm staying overnight in Cardiff Saturday night, so a walk up Brecons way is out for me.  Machen works for N / NE. Just up the 467?
Long way for Cliffhanger though.

If I'm feeling up to it I'll try and "maiden" the bowl shown in pic- looking south, with Cray reservoir bottom right.
Reckon it's gonna be at least a 1 hr hike each way from off the Swansea- Brecon road shown. :o Should be worth it!
