Decent blow at Thurnham this morning, mega lift when a fast moving thermal blew through...just Si and myself though.

At least you weren't Billy-no-mates! Unfortunately I was working but
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow morning as it's my only slot for the next week or so....

I couldn't make it today either as I had some plumbing to do, but I will be there tomorrow morning, Paul.

See you there! :af

I'm heading off up there now, though the forecast 10-18mph means I've packed the wrong tools.
If it's too light I'll go home and sulk / cut the grass before the rain sets in.

It's my first attempt and had to 'borrow' the missus iron
Very theroputic .. just need to finish a few odds and she's done . Fuzz still need's a little filler but I will deal with that once I have maidend her .. was hoping for thurnham tomorrow but wind is wrong and raining til 1600

It was very light but flyable Jeff... unfortunately I had to leave pretty much as soon as I got there
as my wife had trouble with her car.

Leaving for Thurnham in 15 minutes for a quick fly before the sunsets, as I didn't get any flying in at the weekend.  :)

Edit : Changed my mind as it looks like the wind is dropping off.
I'll go tomorrow evening instead as the forecast looks much better.

I've been contacted by someone who wants to join Invicta and learn to fly.  He has an "ambitious" model as a starter so does anyone have a Futaba buddy lead we could borrow?!

Simon .. I have a 3mtr spectrum lead ..3.5m jacks ..
You are welcome to try

Great evening at thurnham.
I maidn'd my Victor!
All went great.. a few clicks of up elev and she was smooth as silk .. need to drop the ail throws as she was a little to responsive for me
Very happy! ..I had just an hour window to spare and achieved my mission ..

BIG THANKS to Eric F for the help in setting up spotting and support guiding me through my first mouldie flight ..
Maiden vid
https://youtu.be/4LOB7yGJu5M

Another highlight for me was watching Paul''s graceful giant wing cruising around .. very therouputic. . A masterpiece in my opinion
https://youtu.be/OLj-OLuVqdo

Hope to see u all soon in a good wind and I can actually put the Victor through some paces

Thanks for the video Jeff..... so pleased the maiden went well especially in such marginal conditions.

Duke and his chair will be forever remembered by the leading edge sheeting of my wing... hopefully I'll be able to push
most of the damage back into shape and make a half decent repair  :'(

I'm going to try and get out again tonight and enjoy the last of the flyable evenings. Tomorrow is looking really good for the South Downs
but I have to work unfortunately.

Is this the Messiah taking up slope soaring?
No, it's Paul becoming incandescent after Duke's picnic chair attacked Paul's 'Big Wing' yesterday.
Actually Paul remained remarkably calm after the event!

Thanks Paul .. I was over the moon with the 8 min low wind flight was looking fwd to seeing how a moulded flies and it didn't dissapoint ..

I really wanted to visit the slope this evening .. my last job was in me15 near the old itv studio ..but didn't have a model .. when the Victor is complete I am planning on making a storage box for her and keeping in my van for such occasions ..

Paul.. as for the big wing every scar tell's a tail ..
I was utterly impressed with the workmanship that went into creating that Leviathen  and can appreciate the time and skill that goes into that beautiful wood work on display  ... me grandfather was a chippy & wood turner amongst other trades and his work very much inspired me to be hands on in life .. also a pioneer glider builder ..I have a ton of his plans and a few half built wings as well as all the ol elev timers  ..

Quick question to all ..
I'm getting close to painting my fuzz ..
What is the best paint and process that will last and withstand rash on the fiberglass fuselage ??
Would greatly appreciate any advise

Wow, what marvellous conditions at Bopeep today. One of those classic days we seemed to have more of a few years ago ... or maybe that's just me. Mark and I were saying we think it's the first time we've been to Bopeep this year, which seems hard to believe but I think it's true.

It was a pretty good day to say the least...amazing lift yet it wasn't freezing! I may have had a Bo Peep day back in March...but it couldve been Firle, nearing 50 and my memory is fading...

A grand total of ten flyers at one point and lot's of full size about to keep us on our toes.

As I was short of time yesterday, I popped over to Minster Cliffs for an excellent mid-afternoon session in the smooth north easterly blow.
It wasn't at all cold, especially as we were standing in the lee of the cliff edge.
I was flying my vintage Phase 6 Pro which performed well, and the other guys there were all flying Zagis.

I'm itching to get another flight on my Victor I will be at thurnham with the next decent wind .. I might have secured another v tail mouldie which needs a tiny amount of work. I will update with some picks on Monday
Because the wind hasn't permitted for soaring I have had to resort to the next best thing
A beautiful sunny day and a big spitfire

Give us some specs on the Spitfire please Jeff. :af

I did the same thing as you Jeff and went to the flat field for some electric action taking four models with me, although it is a bit of a faff preparing enough batteries for a reasonable number of flights.
Sloping is easy, one battery per model keeps you flying all day. :af

Eric F..
The spitfire is the new flightline 1/7 scale
Full scale oleos
I think it's a 460kv motor spinning a scale 4 blade
On 5000 6s
Flaps . Gear . Full nav lights . I added all the weathering to my liking ..I like a warbird to look like she's been busy. Flies like an absolute dream .. I'm up to about 45 flights with her so far . I also took my 1500mm twin 70mm messerschmit me262
https://youtu.be/kvLvgPFfTu4

https://youtu.be/VgsP2zsvs18

I could use some help identifying a model I bought today as it's beyond my knowledge
It's 61"  wood fuzz .. wood semi covered wing
The servos are skyleader I.C
Can anyone take up the challenge of identification

Also picked up a 1400 e.hawk v tail

Can't offer any more information on the Ridge Rider, but the purple and white model is a Thunder Tiger 'eHawk 1400'.

Thanks for the input chaps .
Looks like I have some research to do
Looking through lots of vintage plans there's a designer by the name of John clarke . The various models have a similar physique .. tailplane is all moving ..

The e.hawk needs a dab of ca and a tiny bit of tape and she's ready to go .. on exploring I found she has an orange rx and a lipo tucked inside ..
Not bad considering I gave a little over £20 for the pair
I would really like to get the woody flying

I think you'll find the blue and red one may be a Mini Racer.

Thanks for the suggestion grj
The mini racer is a little to small ..

The closest I have found with wingspan. wing seat and tailplane position is an aeronautics askant ..

After some more research graham I did find that the mini racer has a 60 span.. the info I looked at before said the racer was 995mm
It's the wood fuzz that's throwing me off most similar models have grp fuzz

My hanger grew a little more today when I picked up a new in box JP 2m albatross .. so I will have a few maidens on my next thurnham visit
